On April 28, Beijing issued a notice of unmanned manned demonstration application, and Baidu became one of the first batch of approved enterprises. At the same time, Baidu's self-driving travel service platform Radish Run officially opened unmanned autonomous driving travel services.

This means that the "no one behind the steering wheel" autonomous driving service has been liberalized for the first time in China's megacities.

Experts said that in the context of the "Outline for the Construction of a Transportation Powerhouse", this is an important achievement in Beijing's active efforts to increase the intensity of policy first-movers, seize the opportunities of industrial development strategy, and accelerate the innovation and development of intelligent and connected vehicles, and it is also a major breakthrough in the development of China's automatic driving.

The Implementation Rules for the Administration of Unmanned Road Testing and Demonstration Applications for Passenger Cars in the Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Pilot Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Rules") formulated and issued by the Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Pilot Zone stipulate that the demonstration application subjects that have obtained the notice can carry out unmanned autonomous driving demonstration applications of open roads within 60 square kilometers of the Beijing High-level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone. On the basis of unmanned road testing, the Detailed Implementing Rules put forward higher requirements for the safety management, network and data security, and risk response of test subjects.

It is reported that Baidu carried out unmanned manned demonstration applications in accordance with the requirements of the "Detailed Implementing Rules", and the first batch of 10 unmanned vehicles was invested, and the follow-up plan was to add 30 unmanned vehicles. So far, Baidu has the largest fleet of driverless vehicles in China.

Baidu's Radish Run has now realized autonomous driving manned travel services in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities. In the fourth quarter of 2021, the number of orders for radish fast running has reached 213,000, and this data is still growing at a high speed in 2022.

Baidu said that it will actively meet the technical challenges of Beijing's complex road scenes, and ensure passengers' travel safety and riding experience under the guarantee of bicycle intelligence, monitoring redundancy, parallel driving three-layer safety system and complete travel service system.
