Honda follows in Tesla's footsteps: 1.7 million CRVs and Accords are under investigation for brake problems

Recently, hundreds of car owners complained about Tesla's "ghost brake" problem, which was investigated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, another car company was also investigated for complaints from car owners for brake problems.

According to media reports, NHTSA said that after receiving 278 complaints about the sudden deceleration of Honda-related vehicles in normal driving, it launched an investigation into it.

According to NHTSA, its Defect Investigation Office (ODI) received a total of 278 complaints (107 Honda Accords, 171 Honda CRVs) and several early warning reports alleging that the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) was accidentally activated.

The complaints, which included the 2017-2019 Honda CR-V and the 2018-2019 Honda Accord, involved about 1,732,000 vehicles. Of the 278 complaints, there were 6 minor car accidents and no major accidents.

NHTSA said that accidental brake activation while the vehicle was running normally increased the likelihood of rear-end collisions, and all complaints stated that accidental brake braking was without warning.

Currently, the Defect Investigation Office is conducting a preliminary assessment to determine the extent and severity of the problems with the vehicles involved and to comprehensively assess potential safety-related problems.
