This is the first time that a documentary on urban themes created by Shanghai has been translated into Arabic and broadcast overseas. Produced by the Documentary Center of Shanghai Radio and Television Station, the series of documentaries "Greater Shanghai" shows the historical trajectory and development and construction of Shanghai for more than 170 years, and the film uses objective and solid history, vivid and powerful stories, and characters full of tension to show Shanghai's urban spirit of embracing all kinds of rivers, pursuing excellence, enlightened and wise, atmosphere and modesty, and the urban character of openness, innovation and inclusiveness. The whole documentary consists of 8 episodes: "The Opening of Shanghai", "The Origin of Chinese Industry", "The Confluence of East and West", "The Birthplace of the Red Revolution", "Life and Death Struggle", "People's Shanghai", "Difficult Take-off", and "Innovative Quality".

The entire documentary took three years to produce. The film crew photographed nearly 100 sites and relics in Shanghai, accumulating more than 1,000 hours of shooting material. At the same time, the film crew also went to more than 20 cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing and Hong Kong to shoot scenes, visiting more than 150 historical parties, witnesses and related descendants; rushed to 9 countries such as Britain, France, the United States, Germany, and Russia, photographed more than 60 large and small archives and libraries such as the British Library, and found many first-hand archival materials left abroad. The documentary "Greater Shanghai" has been translated into English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese, Thai and other translations. With the promotion and screening of the multilingual version, "Greater Shanghai" will become an important city card that introduces the history and culture of Shanghai to the world.

The documentary "Greater Shanghai", created by Shanghai Radio and Television Station, debuted in Dubai and will be updated for 8 episodes on the UAE's Alladdar video website, and the new English version of the city image film "Shanghai, Everyone Shines" will also be broadcast simultaneously.
