Although Lamborghini has confirmed that it will officially stop selling pure fuel engine models in 2022, and expects to launch the first PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) plug-in fuel-electric model in 2023 and publish the brand's first pure electric model as soon as 2024, CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed in an interview a few days ago that they still have not given up their hope of continuing to produce oil-electric models after 2030!
Stephan Winkelmann said that although "electrification" has been an irreversible development of the current automobile industry, and even in many markets there are provisions for banning the sale of fuel vehicles in the future, in order to continue the life of internal combustion engines, they are currently cooperating with Porsche to invest in the research and development of environmentally friendly recycled synthetic fuels, hoping that after 2030, they can still provide a small number of models equipped with internal combustion engines to consumers who are nostalgic.
According to Lamborghini's "Direzione Cor Tauri" plan announced in May 2021, the original plant not only expects to start oil electrification by 2024, but also aims to introduce electric energy systems into all vehicles by 2024.
Stephan Winkelmann said: "As long as we can keep our promise to make these cars perform and emit better than the products they are, I hope that consumers will accept these cars, because the combination with electric drive can bring more power to our cars and better CO2 balance."
