The Farmer Painting Education Center of Jinshan School, based on the Fengjing Primary School affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has conducted in-depth research on the educational inheritance and innovation of Jinshan peasant painting in recent years. Starting from the exploration of the story illustration in cooperation with the picture book "Shan Hai Jing", the Jinshan Peasant Painting Education Center took the topic "Research on the Creation Practice of Folk Tale Picture Books Based on Jinshan Peasant Paintings" as the guide, tried to express the story, and gradually realized the creation of picture books in the form of peasant paintings. Nowadays, the children combine the Jinshan peasant painting style with the traditional comic strip narrative technique, and then condense the story and picture into a "four-grid comic" form that is easy for beginners to grasp, which finds a possibility for The Jinshan peasant painting to go to the classroom and to a broader popularization space.
In the process of exploration, the children drew picture book stories with contents such as "core values", "drunken hometown" and "legendary myths". Recently, with the creation of the characteristic teaching of Chinese herbal medicine in Fengjing Primary School, Xu Yumei entered the school every week to open the "Picture Book Creation" project team, recruiting 15 primary school students who like to create picture book stories.
Xu Yumei introduced that to create a Chinese medicine story, in the preparation stage, children need to learn the history and techniques of peasant painting, and then collect Chinese medicine stories and select the one that impresses them the most, further comb the storyline and deepen their understanding; enter the creation stage, need to set the character image and key plot scenes, create line drafts, conceive color matching, modify line drafts, and then copy the board, determine the color matching, modify the details, and adjust and improve. Starting from scratch, the students of the project team learned about the expression methods of peasant painting after a semester of activities, and also entered the profound culture of Chinese medicine.

As one of the birthplaces of Jinshan peasant paintings, Fengjing Town has also been working hard for the inheritance and innovative development of traditional culture. Since 2010, Fengjing Town has carried out a series of summer painting activities for 12 consecutive years, and the painting carrier of Jinshan farmers' paintings has gradually expanded from painting on paper to daily necessities such as tiles and eggs, which has become more and more interesting.
