Behind the scenes of the Winter Olympics| athletes smart bed zero gravity can be remotely controlled, shoveling snow to open the road into the Winter Olympic Village

From the day the Beijing Winter Olympic Village opened, the facilities and services here have been well received by athletes from all over the world. Among them, a smart bed placed in the room of the Winter Olympic athletes was praised by "fancy".

More than one foreign athlete shared this smart bed in the form of a video, making it "popular" overnight. Huang Xiaowei, general manager of Qisheng Technology, the official smart bed supplier in Beijing 2022, recently introduced in an exclusive interview with a reporter from the Beijing News that the design of the zero gravity model of the smart bed was inspired by the astronauts' space capsule seats. In addition to the sense of technology, it also incorporates many Chinese cultural elements, such as the use of snowflake design on the backrest, hoping to "tell the Chinese story well".

Behind the scenes of the "popularity" of smart beds is the preparation of nearly two years, about 30 versions of the backrest design draft, the participation of 150 technical personnel, and more than 30 hours of manual snow shoveling to open the road, using a flatbed truck to send the bed into the Winter Olympic Village.

Inspired by astronaut space seats

As the official smart bed supplier for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, Qisheng Technology has provided more than 6,000 smart beds for the three Olympic villages in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou, which is also the first time that smart beds have been provided in the Winter Olympic Games.

Where is the high-tech embodiment of the smart bed? Huang Xiaowei, general manager of Qisheng Technology, told the Beijing News that the smart bed can be controlled by remote control, with zero gravity mode, TV mode, reading mode and other functions.

Among them, the zero gravity model was jointly studied by Qisheng Technology and Stanford University, "similar to the astronaut's space capsule seat." Huang Xiaowei said, "The head is raised to 15 °, the foot is raised to 35 ° At such an angle, the heart and knees are at the same level, and the body pressure is balanced and dispersed, effectively reducing the burden of physical pressure and promoting blood circulation." "And with the support of such an angle, people can maximize their relaxation during sleep."

"These are done according to ergonomic principles." Skating, skiing and other sports require more leg strength for athletes, so the lifting function of the feet is of great help to the relaxation of the legs. Huang Xiaowei said that the bed is ultimately to serve people's sleep, "the human body relaxes, sleep will be better." ”

About 30 versions of the design were published

According to reports, in order to maximize the combination of the theme of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Chinese culture, the design of the backrest and the choice of fabrics have had about 30 versions of the design draft, tried the "Great Wall" and "Mountains" and other schemes, and finally determined as snowflakes.

Huang Xiaowei said that the final design finalization considered the integration of technology and culture, and behind the culture is humanistic care. "If there is only high technology, the bed is also cold, and there is also a need for humanistic care."

Unlike the smart bed in the sleeping rest cabin of the main media center of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the smart bed in the Winter Olympic Village does not have vibration massage and thrust alarm clock services. "Mainly considering that the function of vibrating massage is not necessarily suitable for some people with physical disabilities." In addition, considering issues such as protecting the privacy of athletes, some of the data functions of the smart bed are not enabled.

Huang Xiaowei said that smart beds may be more helpful to Winter Paralympic athletes. Considering that some athletes in the Winter Paralympic Games are in wheelchairs, the smart bed has been adjusted by the bed foot design, "At the end of the Winter Olympic Games, the winter Paralympic athletes will adjust the foot of the bed before entering the Beijing Winter Olympic Village." "This work will be completed by Qisheng Technology's employees in the closed loop.

Shoveling snow opens the way to send beds into the Winter Olympic Village

"The company has 300 technicians, 150 of whom are involved in the behind-the-scenes work of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics." Huang Xiaowei told the Beijing News that personnel in multiple positions, including design, transportation, and installation, were also involved.

After the smart bed was completed, the scene of being transported to the Winter Olympic Village and moved into various rooms made him even more unforgettable. The Zhangjiakou race area is mountainous, and heavy snow has fallen when transporting smart beds, making the transportation work extremely difficult.

On snowy days, the mountain road was slippery, and the truck could not go up, so they manually shoveled out a road and used a small flatbed truck to pull the smart beds one by one to the downstairs of the Winter Olympic Village. "The metal steel frame and electric part of the smart bed are very heavy", Huang Xiaowei recalled, the truck driver spent more than 30 hours in the snow, and the staff of the company and the Winter Olympic Village did not close their eyes for more than 30 hours, "No one shouted tired and no one complained, and everyone felt that it was a great honor to participate in the work of the Winter Olympics." ”
