"I wanted to do that for a long time," says Rob Dickinson, founder of Singer Vehicle Design, "it's a tribute to a specific 911, not just to remember that era — and the Turbo is the 911 sports car that I have on the poster in my heart." ”
Like all of Singer's revisions, turbo Study is based on the post-964 base.
The Turbo Study is powered by a 3.8-liter air-cooled Mezger flat-six engine, the same Borg-Warner turbocharger x 2 as the 992, and an electronically controlled exhaust gas bypass valve.
So what's the motivation? Over 450 bhp of horsepower and 400lb ft of torque! It is said that customers can adjust according to their own driving style.
"But it's not a very old-school Turbo 911, and we wanted to seek an optimized makeover that pays homage to the classics with new ideas and modern kits." Dickinson said.
Happily, the Turbo Study is only available in a 6-speed MT configuration, but owners can choose between rear drive or 4WD.
Singer's purpose wasn't to create a car that was hard to drive. The Turbo Study is available with michelin four-season tires, as well as electric heated seats, wireless charging, sunroofs, air conditioning and more. Of course, hardcore players can also opt for carbon fiber seats and full lightweight kits.
The Turbo Study project is planned over a two-year period – a long time frame for a modified car that at first glance hasn't changed much.
"Some people might say, this is a modified car? It looks like it's not moving anywhere! But for me, it was a landmark victory! Dickinson says, "Actually, the Turbo Study was completely redesigned, with the exception of the doors. ”
On closer inspection, the Turbo Study is indeed a custom vehicle ... Almost filled with wheel arches, the legendary rear spoiler is the biggest highlight in terms of the car's appearance.
"For me, Whaletail is the finest part of Porsche's design history. We learned from the DLS project's aerodynamics to ensure that the vehicle has better stability rather than downforce. ”
In addition to the exterior and interior, Singer completely beautified the engine compartment – the intake air was not above the rear wing, but flowed in from the gill opening in front of the rear wheels. The intercooler is located in the intake pressurized chamber, making the entire cabin look bright and simple without losing its beauty.
Orders for the Turbo Study have now reached 70 units, with the first (pictured) using Wolf Blue with Malibu Sand interiors. Unlike DLS, turbo Study is a custom vehicle – i.e. I change it if you buy it.
