When it comes to the training base of mainland athletes in the Winter Olympics, where do you think? In fact, in addition to the expected Beijing, Hebei and northeast regions, there are also Qingdao, Nanjing and other places that many people expect. Yan Wengang, who won the first Winter Olympic medal in China's steel frame snowmobile project, conducted an eight-month special training in Ankang, Shaanxi Province, south of Qinling, in order to strengthen the practice of starting action.

On the sea surface of Qingdao, Shandong Province, "skiing" is practiced by riding the wind and waves; at the dry snow hall in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, it is skipped and jumped; in the deep mountains of Ankang, Shaanxi, simulated preparation training is set off... The training venues and facilities all over the country ensure the scientific and systematic training and preparation of ice and snow athletes on the mainland. Here, athletes make up for shortcomings, strengths and weaknesses, increase strength, and prepare for the Winter Olympics with all their might.

In March 2019, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the Opinions on Vigorously Developing Ice and Snow Sports with the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics as an Opportunity, proposing, "Support qualified localities to undertake training support tasks, strengthen the construction of national team training venues and facilities, and accelerate the formation of a composite training support team." ”

The Winter Olympics are in full swing, and the reporter went to Qingdao, Nanjing, and Ankang to visit several venues where the national ice and snow project team has trained.

Qingdao, Shandong——

"Winter snow and summer training", training balance and resilience at sea

Riding the wind and waves in the sea to practice "skiing" has become a different scenery in Qingdao Huiquan Bay.

Every summer, coaches and athletes from the winter sports national team come here for intensive training. As a national snow sports training base, Qingdao Maritime Sports School has undertaken some of the training support tasks of "winter snow and summer training", and in recent years, it has received more than 150 athletes from many winter sports national training teams such as snowboard parallel giant slalom and freestyle ski U-shaped venues. At the Beijing Winter Olympics, Cai Xuetong, who won the fourth place in the women's U-shaped field skills final on snowboarding, participated in the training camp at the Qingdao Sailing Sports School.

"Practice three nine in winter, three volts in summer." Some snow sports have commonalities with windsurfing, power surfboarding and other projects. Gao Xingpeng, head of the coaching team of the cross-border cross-sports snowboarding national training team of the Water Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports, said that especially water sports sometimes encounter waves, which are similar to obstacles such as snow bags encountered in snow sports, and summer training at sea can improve the physical balance and resilience of ice and snow athletes.

"Leaning forward when skiing, and putting the center of gravity back on water skiing, water skiing can help ice and snow athletes train muscle groups that they don't normally practice." Xingxing Peng was a motorboat instructor at Qingdao Sailing Sports School. In July 2021, he joined the cross-border to participate in the preparation for the Winter Olympics.

Select special personnel to serve as safety officers, focus on ensuring the safety of athletes' water training; standardize procurement and supply channels, strengthen foodborne anti-doping prevention and control, and comprehensively improve the level of scientific nutrition and catering; specially invited experts to comprehensively explain sports nutrition, physiological and biochemical index monitoring, fatigue recovery and other knowledge around the needs of the resident training team... During the training period of the national team in winter sports, Qingdao Navigation Sports School set up a composite team to help support training.

Nanjing, Jiangsu——

The dry snow hall uses special resin to create a simulated "dry snow" snow track, and the training effect can be achieved during the snow-free season

From a distance, it is a white and vast high and low "snow slope", and up close, it is a simulated "dry snow" snow track composed of nearly 16,000 small enoki mushroom-shaped balls per square meter.

Here is the Nanjing Dry Snow Hall without a snowflake, which has successively guaranteed the training tasks of the snowboard big jump national training team, the freestyle ski big jump national training team, and the cross-border cross-sports snowboard national team.

On February 9, Feng He, a young player who had trained in the Nanjing Dry Snow Pavilion for three years, entered the 1/8 final of the women's s steeplechase event at the Beijing Winter Olympics, completing the debut of Chinese athletes in the Winter Olympics.

"The key to the venue's all-weather, all-season skiing is the 'dry snow' pistes." Zhang Shunxiang, deputy director of the Nanjing Municipal Sports Bureau, introduced that the ski track uses a special resin material, which has good reelasticity, wear resistance, compressive resistance and flame retardancy after extrusion process, good imitation snow and walking edge effect, and the similarity with real snow when sliding is as high as 80%. Athlete training time is concentrated from May to October every year, which can ensure that the snow-free season can also achieve high-intensity training effects.

Stepping into the Nanjing Dry Snow Pavilion with air-membrane structure, a slide of tens of meters long comes into view, and the athletes on the jumping platform take off and fly in the air, spinning and leaping in the air. The 106-meter-long, 68-meter-wide, 36-meter-high, 7,000-square-meter special sports training ground can accommodate 500 people at the same time.

Intelligent systems such as training motion capture are also installed in the dry snow hall, which can record the athletes' status, speed, introduction angle, and lag time in real time. After the athlete completes the aerial movement, he can view the action playback and analysis data in time. "Accurately count the number and quality of trainings of each athlete in different time dimensions such as daily, weekly, and monthly, and accurately grasp the competitive status of each athlete." Zhang Shunxiang said.

From January 14 to 17 this year, the Nanjing Dry Snow Museum held a four-day "open experience activity". 800 ordinary citizens visited various sports facilities in the museum, experienced sports instruments such as 3D balance tables, and felt the application of scientific and technological elements in ice and snow sports.

Shaanxi Ankang——

Using carbon dioxide ice making technology, a training track for bobsleigh bobsleighs was built

"0.01 seconds is just a blink of an eye, but in the speed-oriented sled, snowmobile and steel frame bobsleigh projects, it is necessary to push the cart to help run in the starting stage, and the starting skill is particularly critical, if the starting is 0.01 seconds slower, the final result may be more than 0.03 seconds slower." Li Jianxi, director of the Winter Sports Management Center of the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau, said.

Step into the Qinling Four Seasons Ski Resort in Ankang, Shaanxi Province, where a 200-meter-long and 40-meter-wide long ski track shines in the warm winter sun. This bobsleigh starting training course built with carbon dioxide ice making technology can provide athletes with anti-seasonal training for starting and bending. In August 2019, it was awarded the National Snow Sports Training Base by the State General Administration of Sports, and the National Bobsleigh Team and the National Steel Frame Snow Team trained here.

The continental bobsleigh, bobsleigh and steel-framed bobsleighs started late, and training grounds were once lacking. Qinling Four Seasons Ski Resort is the first in China to build an igloo base with three bobsleigh, bobsleigh and steel frame bobsleigh departure training tracks.

"The training base also meets the needs of athletes for physical training in the wild." Wang Peixuan, who has just made his debut at the Chinese Women's Bobsleigh Winter Olympics, said that the Qinling Four Seasons Ski Resort is equipped with a physical training hall, an outdoor plastic track, and an 800-meter circular asphalt pulley track, creating good conditions for athletes to simulate and prepare.

Holding snow poles and stepping on skis, a string of figures flew down, braked sharply, and puffed up a gust of snow fog... When the reporter visited, the Shaanxi Provincial Cross-Country Skiing Team was in intensive training. "While providing support for the training of the national team, the base has also promoted the development of winter sports in Shaanxi." Li Jianxi said.
