Daily Picks — Apple's first headset FaceTime was stunning; BlackBerry's 5G phone failed

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman recently said that Memojis and SharePlay may be the core experience of the FaceTime function in Apple's headset.

Gurman has previously said that Apple's mixed reality headset will focus on games, media and calls, running "rOS" or "realityOS" with the internal code name "Oak".

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman elaborates on his expectations for "FaceTime" in RealityOS:

Imagine a virtual reality version of FaceTime where you sit in a conference room of dozens of people and see everyone's 3D models (Memojis) instead of real faces. Apple's headset will be able to track a person's facial expressions in real time, making the experience quite realistic. SharePlay is also heavily used in realityOS, allowing multiple headset users to experience music, movies, and games together.

Apple headset price is not cheap, if positioned to watch movies to play games, it may be difficult to compete with the current market Oculus, after all, the latter is priced at only $299, the rumored price of thousands of dollars is bound to make Apple differentiation, with many additional features faceTime may be popular in the business market, which is also a correct choice.

According to foreign media reports, the dream of a BlackBerry 5G mobile phone has been shattered, and the authorized Onward Mobility has lost the qualification to launch the next BlackBerry mobile phone.

CrackBerry reported that multiple sources confirmed that OnwardMobility and their BlackBerry 5G keyboard phone dreams were dead, that permission to use the BlackBerry brand had recently been revoked, that BlackBerry CEO Cheng Shouzong was reluctant to use the brand's name on another smartphone, and that supply chain problems were exacerbated.

Onward Mobility's story with BlackBerry began in August 2020, when last month the company announced that the 5G BlackBerry phone would be released sometime in 2022 after the delay in shipping in 2021, and it would still be equipped with a full keyboard design, and within a few weeks, its relationship with BlackBerry had taken a sharp turn for the worse.

How strong the appeal of BlackBerry is, as can be seen from the sales of BlackBerry mobile phones that TCL has launched before, most people have lost their love for this retro mobile phone, and the remaining very few people cannot support BlackBerry mobile phones, and the old brands of the past cannot get the ferry ticket to the new era of 5G, which is really regrettable.
