At present, 99% of new cars listed in the United States are equipped with EDR, and about 10% of new cars in mainland China are equipped. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and other luxury cars, as well as new energy vehicles such as Weilai and BYD, are mostly equipped with EDR, and the average cost is about 1,000 yuan. After the mandatory installation of the EDR system, unnecessary disputes in traffic accidents will be reduced, and accident judgments such as the previous "Tesla brake incident" and "Mercedes-Benz brake door" that are not easy to say clearly have a basis for judgment, protecting the rights and interests of users and car companies themselves.
