China FAW recently disclosed that the Group produced a total of 290371 vehicles in January 2022, down 6.1% year-on-year (309077 units in January 2021); and sold 311508 vehicles, down 25.9% year-on-year (420458 units sold in January 2021).
Among them, the independent brands represented by Hongqi continued to maintain a rapid development trend, driving the overall sales volume of the group upward.
In detail, FAW-Volkswagen remains the group's largest source of sales, achieving sales of 182977 units in January, but down 15.0% from 215286 units in the same period in 2021, and production was 181573 units, up 20.7% year-on-year.
FAW Toyota saw more than double-digit declines at both ends of production and sales in January, with sales of 51,741 units, down 37.7% year-on-year, while production was 40,964 units, down 45.4% year-on-year.
However, it is worth mentioning that due to the impact of the epidemic, the FAW Toyota and FAW-Volkswagen plants in Tianjin have stopped production for a period of time in January, of which the Corolla and other hot models were produced in the Tianjin base, which may also be one of the main reasons for the decline in brand sales.
Compared with the decline of both joint venture brands, FAW Hongqi brand is outstanding, and sales in the first month of the new year exceeded the 40,000 mark, achieving a record high.
Specifically, Hongqi brand sales in January 2022 reached 42,158 vehicles, an increase of 29.6% year-on-year; production in the same period was 37,758 units, an increase of 60.9% year-on-year.
The production and sales of both ends have achieved double-digit growth, intuitively reflecting the current Faw-hongqi brand models in the market heat, the official revealed that the Faw-hongqi H5 achieved sales of 13137 vehicles, Hongqi HS5 is the sale of 24451 new cars.
In addition, the performance of the Liberation brand and the Pentium brand was somewhat sluggish.
Among them, the sales volume of the Jiefang brand exceeded 28,000 vehicles in January, and the production of more than 26,000 vehicles was compared, the sales volume of the Jiefang brand in January 2021 was more than 79,000 vehicles, and the production of more than 46,000 vehicles.
The Pentol brand sold 5,466 units in January, down 29.6 percent from 7,762 units in January 2021, while production was 3,500 units, down 16.5 percent year-on-year.
At the previous annual press conference of China FAW and Hongqi Brand in 2022, Qiu Xiandong, director, general manager and deputy secretary of the party committee of China FAW, released the overall business target of China FAW in 2022.
In 2022, China FAW plans to sell 4.1 million vehicles, an increase of 17.1% year-on-year; plans to achieve operating income of 770 billion yuan, an increase of 8.9% year-on-year; market share of 15%; R & D investment intensity of more than 3%, and strive to reach 3.5%, independent brands to reach about 8%.
