According to Hong Kong's "East Net," wild boars have often appeared in Hong Kong's urban areas in recent years, and the number of attacks on citizens has increased. Legislative Council member Ge Peifan revealed in the Legislative Council Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene Committee that an 83-year-old man was attacked by a wild boar for no reason while walking near his home earlier, resulting in multiple fractures and paralysis of his right body. It is reported that the old man is the mother of singer Li Wei.

According to Hong Kong's East Net, the Hong Kong government revised the Road Traffic Ordinance to require drivers to stop if they hit a cat or dog in a traffic accident, and the new rules will take effect in November this year. The Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene Committee of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong held a meeting on the 12th, and some members were worried that the new regulations were overcorrected, questioning the requirement that drivers stop in the middle of the road to put themselves and other road drivers at risk, and asked whether animal lives were more important than human beings. The mp also criticized the AFCD, saying that wild boars are seriously flooded in urban areas, they breed and haunt in large quantities, and the AFCD should take the initiative to take measures to catch them.

Ge Peifan also said at the meeting that wild boars are aggressive, but citizens ignore the danger to feed, and named wild boars often haunt the city. She also revealed that singer Li Wei's mother, who is over eighty years old, was attacked by a wild boar earlier and needed surgery.

Li Wei's sister Li Silin replied to the Hong Kong "East Net" inquiry that her mother must be sent to the hospital by ambulance for treatment after being attacked and fell by a wild boar, and when she arrived at the hospital, she found that her mother's elbow and pelvic bone were broken and needed immediate surgery, and now she is still very painful, and can only rest in bed all day, "My mother can't lie flat now, she can only sleep on her side, the wound hurts, and she has lost a lot of weight in a week." ”

Li Silin said that he had contacted the Hong Kong Fisheries and Conservation Department to look at the pig problem and avoid accidents from continuing.

According to the report, Ge Peifan revealed that after the wild boar attacked Li Wei's mother, she received a large number of neighbors' feedback, and the wild boar was still haunting the place after the attack, and the neighbors were panicked.

Hong Kong's Director-General for Fisheries and Conservation, Leung Siu-fai, acknowledged that the number of wild boar infestations in the past few months has been increasing and that current measures have failed to effectively curb the number of wild boars. He said that if wild boars are found to be infested at the nuisance point of wild boar, they are generally captured and moved to the countryside or neutered. He acknowledged that the measure could not keep up with the increase in the speed of wild boars, and considered the direct and humane destruction of wild boars that appeared at the nuisance point. He also said that the problem of wild boars is mainly caused by human feeding and improper garbage disposal, "it may be that the public is really full of love", so law enforcement will be strengthened, and the rules for increasing feeding penalties will be studied in the future.

Hong Kong's "East Net" released news in August that Hong Kong's wild boar was plagued, and in recent months, some people had been bitten by wild boars in the morning while walking on the Cypress Mountain Road in Hong Kong's Quarry Bay, and more than 30 wild boars had been surprised to see more than 30 wild boars mistakenly believing that discarded waste was food and gathering to "open a meal".

The FEHD has placed 63 specially designed foot-pedal waste bins in the areas where wild boars are frequently seen in the Southern District of Hong Kong, such as Pokfulam, Tin Wan, Deep Bay, Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, Stanley and Shek O, to prevent wild boars from overturning the waste bins and contaminating public places when foraging. In addition, FEHD also took specific measures to improve hygiene at sites where wild boar is more common in the areas of Poma Hill, Quarry Bay Pak Kau Hill and Loong Yuek Trail in Siu Sai Wan, East District, including sending staff to enhance patrols and street sweeping, and placing about 10 foot-operated waste bins to replace the existing waste bins to reduce wildlife nuisance.

The FEHD has also worked with the Fisheries and Conservation Department to educate the public not to feed wild animals along Bok Kik Hill Road, Keeley Road and Sham Wan Road, and to take surprise enforcement action against those who feed wild animals to pollute public places.
