Intel sets up a $1 billion fund to strengthen foundry and drive the adoption of disruptive technologies

It House understands that the fund, established by Intel Capital in partnership with Intel Foundry Services (IFS), will prioritize investments in technology capabilities that accelerate time-to-market for foundry customers, covering intellectual property (IP), software tools, innovative chip architectures, and advanced packaging technologies.

Intel also announced partnerships with multiple companies in the fund's alliance to focus on key strategic industry changes: modular products through an open chiplet platform and support for multiple instruction set architecture (ISA) design approaches including x86, Arm, and RISC-V.

As an important part of Intel's IDM 2.0 strategy, Intel recently established the Intel Foundry Services Division. In addition to providing packaging and process technologies in the U.S. and Europe, as well as delivering committed capacity, Intel Foundry Services is positioned to provide a differentiated IP portfolio for the foundry industry, including all leading instruction set architectures.
