Hemu Township is the northernmost township in western China. Hemu Village is one of the famous Tuvan villages and the farthest and largest of the 3 remaining Tuvan villages (Hemu, Kanas and Baihaba).

There are more than 1,800 people in Hemu Township, mainly Mongolian Tuvans and Kazakhs, whose wooden houses are scattered on the mountain steppe.

Hemu Village, a village under the jurisdiction of Burjin County in Xinjiang, is a concentrated place of residence for the Tuvan people.
