The hybrid structure of DM-i is replaced by the parallel structure of the previous two generations back to the string parallel structure of the original generation, with two motors. One of the motors is connected to the engine and to the wheels by a clutch, which can be used to generate electricity as well as drive the wheels. The other motor is connected to the wheel and is mainly responsible for driving the wheels and recovering kinetic energy.
