The "square box" product is on fire, how can Geely be absent?
Recently, Geely officially announced that its first light off-road SUV was officially named "Geely Cowboy" and released some details. The new car is based on the Geely ICON small SUV, and has many hard-core styling features in the design dimension.
Geely Denim features a two-tone body with floating roof design elements. The wide-body wheel arches, pure black wheels and black side skirts on the side of the body create a strong sense of power for the vehicle.
The wide-body wheel arches are equipped with off-road AT tires, and in detail, the model used is Giti 4×4 AT71 tires. Most of the AT tires are 265mm wide, but the Geely denim tires shown in the official details are 215/60 R17, which is one size smaller than the current ICON's tire rim size. This tire is not currently in Giti's official size pedigree, and it is suspected that it is a customized matching size for the new car.
Another highlight of Geely Denim is the addition of many external storage designs. The off-road equipment rack on the roof has integrated searchlight headlights, with a cargo area of 1.3 m² and a maximum load capacity of 50 kg. Bicycles, surfboards, camping equipment and other oversized equipment that cannot be installed in the car can be placed on the roof of the car to meet the needs of fishing, cycling, surfing and many other scenes.
At the rear of the car, the new car is designed with a storage school bag, which adopts an upper opening design, a built-in mesh bag separation area, and a leakage hole that can be blocked at the bottom, with a draining function, which can facilitate users to store umbrellas, raincoats, rain boots and other wading wet objects.
At the same time, at the position of the original triangular window of the D-pillar, Geely Denim has also set up a lockable external storage bag, which further enriches the storage space and enhances the style of the off-road design of the vehicle.
In recent years, the "square box" category of products has set off a lot of enthusiasm in the industry, and the head independent car companies, such as BYD, Great Wall, Chery, Changan, etc., have launched "square box" off-road products in their sub-brands. Geely, as the head of the independent car company, has been missing relevant product lines, which is indeed a big pity.
The Geely ICON is currently the most unique and tough urban SUV product in Geely's product line, and on this basis, it is transformed into a light off-road product, which is the fastest strategy to respond to the market. Of course, the Geely ICON, which was born in the BMA architecture, may not be able to support the option of a four-wheel drive system, after all, the vast majority of users' demand for "square box" products focuses more on personalized styling expression, rather than the rigid needs of high-intensity off-road.
The birth of Geely Denim can well meet the demands of this part of the users, considering the price of Geely ICON itself between 96,900-116,900, I believe that the price of Geely Denim will not be "out of reach" for young users in the future.
