SAIC-GM's Dongyue plant currently produces Buick and Chevrolet models. Recently, the online car market learned from relevant channels that SAIC-GM will carry out a technical transformation of the Dongyue plant and introduce an entry-level luxury CUV multi-purpose vehicle and its variant vehicle project codenamed "E2QL". The annual production capacity of new vehicles is 60,000 units, while the annual production capacity of the JBSC compact sedan (Chevrolet Cowartz) of the North Plant will be reduced by 60,000 units, and the total annual production capacity will remain unchanged at 578,000 units, and the project construction cycle will be two years, and production is expected to be started as soon as the end of next year.
Officials said that the new car will be built based on the existing platform, combined with the code name for the E2 platform, the future will compete with the Audi Q3 coupe, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X2 and other models, so E2QL is Cadillac's new car. The overall size of the E2QL is between the XT4 and the Oncovi S, but the body height is shorter, and it is most likely a coupe SUV. Considering that the E2QL is positioned lower than the XT4, while referring to the pricing of the brand and the price difference between it and the competitors, it is expected that the starting price of the new car may be around 240,000-250,000 yuan.

According to the EIA data (which may be different from the production car), the Cadillac E2QL will adopt the latest family design, and the interior will be equipped with a 34-inch central control screen of the world's new generation of entertainment systems, which is expected to use the same screen as the Cadillac LYRIQ (33 inches). In terms of configuration, the new car provides the main passenger seat with electric 8-way adjustment, 4-way waist rest, and heating and ventilation functions, which is expected to be the top model, while the medium model has eliminated the heating and ventilation function, and the low-end model has changed to manual adjustment seat.
In terms of power, the Cadillac E2QL is equipped with GM's latest 1.5T and 2.0T engines, of which the 1.5T engine is the same as the Buick Veyron Pro, and the 2.0T engine is the same as the XT4 with a 48V light mixing system. The drivetrain of the new car is matched with a 9AT transmission, with 1.5T for the front-drive model and 2.0T for the four-wheel drive model, and the acceleration of 100 kilometers is 8.9s and 8.2s respectively.
