Recently, Daimler AG officially changed its name to Mercedes-Benz Group AG. With the official renaming of the Group's headquarters, its wholly-owned subsidiary, Daimler Greater China Investment GmbH in China, will also be renamed, and the relevant matters are currently subject to approval by the relevant departments and are scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2022.

Daimler Trucks AG was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on December 10, 2021, and following the independent listing of the truck business, the renaming of the Mercedes-Benz Group underlines the group's renewed focus on the automotive business. Subsequently, Daimler Mobility AG will also change its name to Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG and provide financing, leasing and insurance services for passenger cars and vans.
This is the third time in the history of Daimler AG that the group name has been changed. Two pioneers in automobile history, Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler, merged their respective companies in 1926 to formally form Daimler-Benz; in 1998, Daimler and Chrysler jointly formed DaimlerChrysler; in 2007, the group sold Chrysler and renamed it Daimler AG.
Daimler AG was officially renamed Mercedes-Benz Group AG, which will focus on passenger car brands including Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-EQ, Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG, as well as light commercial vehicles. At present, the automotive industry is facing major changes in electrification, intelligence, networking and sharing, and Mercedes-Benz Group has chosen to change the name of the group at this time and refocus on the automotive business, which may mean that the group will make greater strategic changes in the automotive business.
