Sharing the experience of the Olympic heritage online, representatives of Olympic cities around the world wish the Beijing Winter Olympic Games

On the evening of February 5th, the theme activity of "Olympic Cities Join Hands and Unite together for the Future" organized by the Beijing Olympic City Development Promotion Association opened. City representatives from the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee and the World Olympic Cities Alliance shared their achievements and experiences in the inheritance of the Olympic heritage online and wished the Beijing Winter Olympic Games a successful event.

In his written address, Graguard Junoord, President of the World Olympic Cities Union and Mayor of Lausanne, shared the legacy of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne in terms of urban facilities, thinking and creativity. He said that through a network of past and future Olympic host cities, the World Olympic Cities Alliance is committed to promoting Olympic values and passing on the Olympic heritage. The Alliance's member cities seek to share best practices and inspiring case studies to explore how the Olympic Games can benefit people based on past and future Olympics. Finally, he wished Beijing every success for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

In her video message, Maria Celos-Dumbrivell, Director of the IOC's Department of Enterprise and Sustainable Development, spoke highly of the legacy and sustainable development of the Beijing Olympic Games. She said that all the newly built venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics have formulated post-game utilization plans, fully considering various uses, including national fitness, high-level sports training and competitions, community leisure and cultural and educational activities. In a video message, Mayor of Lake Placid, New York, United States, congratulated the Beijing Winter Olympics. He said lake Placid has hosted the Winter Olympics twice, and with its rich experience, it continues to attract world-class events, and the city's infrastructure is complete. Lake Placid will share the Olympic heritage experience with other Olympic cities. It is reported that the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid is China's first participation in the Winter Olympics, which is of landmark significance for the development of China's winter Olympics and ice and snow sports.

The World Olympic Cities Alliance was established on 2 December 2002 as an IOC-approved city of cities around the world that have hosted, are preparing and preparing to bid for the Olympic Games, and are headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland. At present, there are 43 member cities of the Alliance, including 11 executive committee cities. Beijing is one of the first members of the Alliance and has been an executive committee member of the Alliance since 2010.
