The chat interface UI for Microsoft Teams Win11/macOS will be more compact

IT House February 5 news, according to Windows Latest, Microsoft Teams for Windows 10/11 and macOS is providing a new compact UI for personal chat. The new compact mode will allow you to see 50% of your information in the desktop client, allowing users to easily multitask while communicating with others in Microsoft Teams.

This feature is designed for desktops and laptops with large screens, where you can easily see up to 50% more information on the screen. According to the roadmap, Microsoft doesn't plan to add a compact mode for chat in the Android and iOS versions of Teams, but you can expect similar improvements in the web version.

This should be a welcome update for desktop users, but there's a problem – Teams' new compact mode is only for personal information (you won't see more information in the channel).

As you can see in the screenshot, the new compact user interface for Microsoft Teams is fairly obvious, and it includes support for formatting options. In addition, you can still use the message response or click on the Microsoft Teams consumer "pop-up chat window" feature.

According to the notification in the Microsoft 365 admin center, a compact mode for chat will be available starting in mid-February.

Automatic music detection for Microsoft Teams will arrive later this year

Microsoft also confirmed that it is actively developing new audio experiences for the Teams desktop client. This new feature will automatically detect music and use machine learning-based noise suppression to reduce non-speech signals. However, Teams' new music detection features will have months to wait until they're ready for users.

As mentioned earlier, the new audio capabilities of Microsoft Teams are based on 1 million audio clips with voice and music. The feature also used machine learning and was tested with an additional 1,000 audio clips from a wide range of contributors.

According to Microsoft, the Teams desktop client will be able to detect more than 81% of all music clips.
