IT House April 22 news, Apple today announced in a support document that macOS Server will be discontinued on April 21, 2022. Apple has been phasing out macOS Server for years and is now finally ready to shut it down permanently.

MacOS Server is designed to work with macOS and iOS devices, allowing users to easily configure Mac and iOS devices for school, home office, business, and more.

macOS Server lets users assign various apps available through the Volume Purchase Program (VPP) to each device without using the user's Apple ID. This allows you to install apps acquired through VPP on iOS devices and Mac computers without having to configure your Apple ID or send invitations. Users can also migrate an app installed on their device to their Apple ID without deleting the app or user data.

IT House understands that macOS Server 5.12.2 will be the last version of the app and that the macOS Server service has now been migrated to macOS. Since macOS High Sierra, popular macOS Server features, including cache servers and file sharing servers, have been bundled into macOS, eliminating the need for standalone apps.

Existing macOS Server users can continue to download the app and use it with macOS Monterey.
