The International Space Station will begin returning to Earth in October 2026. NASA plans to de-orbit the space station in January 2031 and plunge it into an uninhabited area in the South Pacific called Point Nemo.

According to reports, the horsepower of three Russian "Progress" spacecraft will be needed to pull the International Space Station out of orbit.

Launched in 1998, the International Space Station is currently the largest space platform in orbit.
