"Sekiga Yo Yo Adventure": A different gift for two daughters

Recently, the children's story "Guan Guan Youyou Adventure" has just been launched on the Himalaya platform, and it has rushed into the top three of the new works list in the children's category. However, unexpectedly, unlike the first and second lists, the account that launched the work did not have a strong fan base, and the author was not a popular writer but a post-90s mother.

The story tells a pair of little sisters, subverting the traditional perception that girls are cared for, incarnating as guardians, saving the ancient mythical beasts in crisis, and starting a fantastic adventure with courage and wisdom. However, if you think that this is a mythical and mysterious theme, you are wrong, because many of these stories are closely related to the real social hot events that have occurred in the past two years, and the opening few stories involve topics such as Henan Dashui and Xiaokang Society, and the author integrates the story of the mythical beast in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" with what is happening at the moment, so that children can listen to the story at the same time, they can discuss with their parents and mothers, enhance parent-child relationship, understand our real life, and break through the ivory tower.

It is understood that the author Li Duo, who is a media person, has systematically studied Chinese and Chinese literature, has accumulated many years of literary and art criticism work, and has taken advantage of busy work and hard work to create a child, which lasted half a year and has now completed most of the manuscripts. Now we have an exclusive conversation with the author to take you to understand the original intention of his creation.

1. What was the impetus for this story?

I want to give my daughter a different gift. Because I have two daughters myself, I am particularly aware that there are very few domestic classic children's works for girls now, and I want to write a story about the growth of girls, in which the protagonist is a girl, the set is a girl's, all the emotional thoughts are girl's, subverting the heroism complex of boys in the past, here, girls can also save the world, help others, and improve themselves in the process. The protagonists, Guan Guan and Yo Yo, are also the names of my two daughters, and I want to hope that they will become independent, kind, brave and strong in this way.

2. Is there anything special to be admired for?

The first one is based on the traditional cultural classic "Classic of Mountains and Seas", but it is fully integrated into my own imagination. Those divine beasts all came from this ancient book, but the specific personality, characteristics, habits, etc., came from a kind of imagination. For example, if you describe an animal that looks like a sheep in the original book, there are only a few strokes, saying that there are no grasses and trees on the mountains where it lives, so what should this animal feed on, you can boldly imagine. For example, some animals are said to be fierce, but without heads, it is impossible that the so-called fierceness is a misunderstanding. Based on these, there is a lot of room for adaptation.

The second is that many stories are based on real cases, transforming these into small stories that children can understand and adults can listen to, as well as themes about environmental protection, harmonious coexistence between humans and animals, and so on. It's all based on my years of media experience, taking stories, editing pages, writing reviews, and this time, I turned them into stories.

The third is that some plots are indeed quite dramatic, you will definitely feel that "this design, very interesting", there is a certain sense of reasoning suspense in it, in addition to the dialogue of the lines is particularly many, the collision between words, or can give us inspiration.

3. What kind of communication effect do you hope this work can achieve?

Spreading the word, bursting fire, rising fans and what is a kind of effect, but I actually pay more attention to another level, that is, I hope that children can remember their names because of these very characteristic mythical beasts after listening, and want to study our traditional cultural classics in depth, fall in love with our own Chinese superheroes, and strengthen cultural self-confidence, which is what I hope to see as a media person, a novice writer, and a post-90s mother.

4. Will there be any other works in the future?

Definitely. My educational experience and my accumulation of language and writing have allowed me to always be interested and have ideas to do this, which is still very rare. Since the beginning, I insist on writing it, writing this kind of thing is not restricted by age, energy, etc., in the future, when my children grow up, I can also create for other children, not asking about the results but asking about hard work.
