Chinese New Year's Eve night, the creative music and dance poetry and painting program "Remembering Jiangnan", full of Zhejiang elements, appeared on CCTV Spring Festival Gala, integrating dance performances and character performances into the artistic conception of traditional Chinese landscape paintings, presenting the audience with a beautiful picture of the new era.
The program depicts the scenery of the mountains and rivers of the Fuchun River generation in the early autumn with elegant brush and ink, showing the spiritual feelings of tranquility and detachment from nature, Pu Cunxin, Feng Yuanzheng, Li Liqun, Ding Zhicheng, Ayunga, Yang Zongwei, Zheng Qiyuan, and Cai Chengyu incarnate eight ancient people in the painting, depicting the Mingli Jiangnan with poetry and songs.
Remembering Jiangnan, the most memorable is Zhejiang. Behind this eye-catching program, the literary and artistic forces of all parties in the province such as Zhejiang Song and Dance Theater, Hangzhou Opera and Dance Theater, and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music Dance Academy are gathered.
"From the beginning of the preparation to the end, we have always adhered to high standards and strict requirements." Xu Zhen, deputy general manager of the Hangzhou Opera and Dance Theater, told reporters that only the early stage of the actor selection was selected for 3 rounds, and after that, a closed rehearsal was conducted in Xiaoshan, and then went to Beijing for rehearsal, which lasted more than 2 months.
Tao Xiaoqing, deputy general manager of Zhejiang Song and Dance Theatre, used the four words "excellence" to describe the rehearsal preparation process. "During the closed rehearsal in Xiaoshan, the costumes, props and venues we prepared should be exactly the same as those for the official performance, and during the period, they should be modified at any time according to Beijing's opinions to ensure that the actors can get the rhythm accurate and maintain perfection." She recalled that the size and length of the skirt in the stage costume will directly affect the amplitude of the actor's dance movements, so the production of the rehearsal costume cannot have an error of 1 cm. The same is true for the props of the program, such as when the actor takes the umbrella, the size of the umbrella will affect the spacing of the formation arrangement, etc., and there can be no slight difference. Not to mention the size of the stage venue, it will directly affect the actor's running speed and distance, so a 1:1 reproduction has also been carried out.
The challenges for teams go far beyond that. "As soon as we arrived in Beijing, we encountered a cooling down, and the temperature at night was as low as minus ten degrees." The program leader Yang said that at that time, he immediately purchased a long down jacket to keep the actors warm.
Not only that, but because the show is presented in a way that uses virtual technology and other methods, the performance stage of the actors has also changed. Zhu Qing, an actress at the Hangzhou Opera and Dance Theatre who plays a Jiangnan woman in the show, told reporters that this form of combining tradition with modernity, ancient painting and technology is also her first contact, which feels very novel and challenging.
"In the past performances, we all performed on the stage, and after seeing the scene and the props arrangement, there would be a sense of reality. But the show needed to be filmed in the blue shed, there was no stage arrangement, and there were various points around and on the ground, which was the first time for many people. Zhu Qing said that in addition to remembering the dance movements, we also have to compose stage scenes in our minds, and fully communicate with TV directors and program directors to ensure that every action and look is accurate.
A closer look at the show reveals even more intimate details. When the Tang poems and Song poems are recited, the subtitles in the paintings also appear in the form of calligraphy, and the names of each artist participating in the performance are also displayed in the form of seal carvings. These calligraphy and seal engraving works all come from the Xiling Printing Society, which founded the society with the purpose of "preserving gold stones, studying printing, and combining calligraphy and painting".
"This creation is also a challenge for me." Li Yan, a member of the Xiling Printing Society, said that due to the popular characteristics of the Spring Festival Gala program, calligraphy and seal engraving works need to be created with simplified characters, which brings certain difficulties.
Originally, the traditional seal engraving art is printed with a seal book, and she needs to think about how to make the simplified character seal present the beauty of seal engraving art when creating. In the end, she chose to use the calligraphy to integrate the lishu brush to present, so that the font is more ancient, and then used a knife to beat the border to make it broken, creating a sense of gold and stone, in order to be closer to the art of seal carving. At the same time, she also used the style of Wei Jin Xiaokai to mix the thin gold body of Song Huizong with a pen to express calligraphy works, reflecting the charm of the Song Dynasty.
