Recently, a short video entitled "96-year-old mainland journalism giant Mr. Fang Hanqi and the island's 98-year-old journalism giant Mr. Li Zhan bid farewell to the New Year" was screened on the Internet. This simple video not only aroused concern in the journalism circles and industry on both sides of the strait, but also made many ordinary netizens moved by the acquaintance of the two elderly people across the strait.

The video was released by Wang Runze, deputy dean of the School of Journalism at Chinese Min University. She said: "After the New Year's greeting video was issued, it caused a warm response from netizens, more than 600 messages on Douyin alone, some netizens left messages saying that they were moved to cry, and several netizens also recalled their exchanges with Mr. Li Zhan in the mainland or Taiwan many years ago, which was very touching." ”
It is understood that Fang Hanqi was born in 1926, came to the Journalism Department of Chinese University in 1958, and is an important founder and pioneer of new Chinese journalism, and his books "History of Chinese Journalism and Communication" and "General History of Chinese Journalism" have influenced several generations of news communication scholars. Born in 1925 in Shouguang, Shandong Province, Li Zhan stayed in school after graduating from National Chengchi University in Taiwan in 1956, where he taught courses such as journalism history, comparative journalism, and space communication.

Wang Runze recalled that he had interacted with Li Zhan many times.
"His Shandong accent has not changed, every time we meet, he affectionately calls me 'WangLaoshi' (Teacher Wang), my hometown is also from Shandong, so it sounds particularly kind; although he is already a titan in the academic world, he has always been very cordial in his contacts, contributing to our mainland academic magazines and accepting my telephone interviews, and he is very modest." His rich experience and sense of national mission at home and country are really a model for academic circles on both sides of the strait. Wang Runze said.
Fang Hanqi's doctoral student Wang Baoping saw this network connection "New Year's Greeting" in the WeChat group.
"It's like witnessing the greetings of two centuries-old people across time and space. Moreover, it suddenly evoked his memories of exchanging and studying in Taiwan. Wang Baoping went from the Communication University of China to Study at Shih Hsin University in Taiwan in 2016, and the classroom teacher at that time talked about cross-strait journalism and academic exchange activities from time to time in class, often mentioning the situation in which a large number of Taiwanese journalism scholars went to the mainland in the 1980s and 1990s to give interviews and lectures. Among them, Fang Hanqi and Li Zhan jointly participated in the cross-strait press education conference.
"I remember that Mr. Fang once told a detail, when Mr. Li introduced a batch of books and newspapers published in Taiwan and purchased the data room of the Renmin University Journalism College, which suddenly attracted many colleges and universities to participate." Wang Baoping said.

It is understood that in May 2018, the China Journalism History Society went to Taiwan to present Li Zhan with the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Society, during which Li Zhan talked about the normalization of cross-strait exchanges, and successively went to more than 30 colleges and universities and donated more than 10,000 books on journalism and communication, contributing to the development of journalism and communication on the mainland.
Speaking of these books, Xu Cheng, a doctoral student at the School of Journalism at Chinese Min University, is one of the beneficiaries. "Many of my classmates and I have been reading the books on the history of Chinese journalism and communication written by Mr. Fang since I was an undergraduate, and there are many books donated by Mr. Li Zhan in the college's reference room, and I often read them, and I know that those are donated by Mr. Li Zhan after watching the video, and I know that there are so many touching details behind it."
According to Fang Hanqi's doctoral student, Wang Jingyu, a lecturer at Beijing Jiaotong University, in the spring of 2018, she needed to go to Taiwan to collect some archival materials for the writing of her doctoral dissertation, and after Fang Hanqi learned about it, she prepared the best Mingqian Longjing that year, and urged her to set off as soon as possible to bring this specialty from the mainland to Li Zhan to comfort his thoughts about his homeland.
At that time, Li Zhan and his family warmly welcomed Wang Jingyu and personally signed his "Journalism". Li Zhan missed his hometown very much, heard that Wang Jingyu was also a weifang native, and specially sent his own "Testimony of the Great Era - Ten Thousand Miles of Lonely Eagles".
"Before leaving, I went to say goodbye at home, and at lunch, Teacher Li kept picking vegetables for me, and when I left, Master Li also stuffed a lot of Taiwanese special fruits such as Shakya and let me eat them at the airport." Immediately after I returned, I bought a miniature version of "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" from the Forbidden City, and prepared to give it to Teacher Li Zhan when I went to Taiwan again, but the follow-up trip has not been possible due to the epidemic. Wang Jingyu said.
The "acquaintance" of the two ninety-year-olds not only crossed the strait, but also crossed time, touching the hearts of many "post-95s" and "post-00s".
Tao Xinyi, a 2018 undergraduate student at the School of Journalism of Chinese University, brushed up on this video on the Internet and immediately transferred it to her relatives and friends. "Suddenly attracted by a New Year's greeting video, a familiar figure, a sentence of true memories, a word of true blessings. Although they are on both sides of the strait, the friendship will always exist, and the century friendship between Mr. Fang Hanqi and Mr. Li Zhan is touching. ”
Tao Xinyi said that if you carefully taste it, this period of experiencing wind and rain and crossing the strait is not only the true feelings of the two gentlemen across time and distance, but also the embodiment of the joint efforts of the cross-strait journalism circles headed by the older generation of journalists.
Xu Cheng said that after coming to the National People's Congress to study, he personally listened to Fang Hanqi's teachings on zhixue reading during his doctoral studies. "The interaction between Mr. Fang and Mr. Li across the strait touched me and many of my classmates around me. For those of us who study journalism, it is the hard work of the two academic giants and the seniors in the academic field that makes us young people deeply benefit. ”
