Professor Sha Lianxiang was born in Dalian in 1936. In 1956, he was admitted to the Department of Philosophy of Chinese University, and in 1960 he stayed on to teach. After the suspension of Chinese Min University, he worked in the Teaching and Research Department of The Basic Courses of Tsinghua University from 1970 to 1978. After the reopening of Chinese University, he returned to the Faculty of Philosophy of Renmin University from 1978 to 1982, and from 1982 to 1984, he studied social psychology and communication at the Faculty of Letters, The University of Tokyo, Japan. After returning to China, he joined the Department of Sociology of Chinese Min University.
