Although this 1.7% improvement can be said to be negligible in terms of actual performance, such as the fastest lap time of a vehicle using PS5 tires is 59 seconds, while the fastest lap time of a vehicle using PS4 tires is 59 seconds, but the gap between seconds is quite difficult to improve in tire development.
Michelin's greatest concern about braking distance, under the same conditions, the braking distance of vehicles using PS5 tires is shortened by 1.5% compared to vehicles using PS4 tires.
According to Michelin's official release plan, PS5 tires will be available in different sizes of 17-21 inches, the introductory tire model is 205/40ZR7, while the top tire is 255/35ZR21, of course, Michelin will also customize exclusive PS5 tires for some performance vehicles. In terms of time to market, PS5 tires are expected to start being released in batches in March 2022.
