A few days ago, foreign media conducted a comparative test of nine ultra-high-performance tires of the 225/45 R17, of which the Michelin PS5 is a newly launched product, and its main competitor Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is also a new product.

This model, the Volkswagen Golf GTI, tests the dry-ground wet performance, noise performance, subjective comfort and rolling resistance of the nine tires.
Dry ground
The first is the dry lap test, which can be seen that the top three are the horse brand, Goodyear and The Yokohama, and the Michelin PS5 only ranks fourth.
Dry lap performance (in units/sec)
Testers say the Michelin PS5 is only 1.28 seconds away from the fastest tire, and it inherits many of the PS4's strengths — easy to drive, safe steering, excellent grip levels, but less sporty.
"It's fair to say that the Michelin PS5 even though the tyres have the word 'sporty' in their name, it's not a tyre that's used on the track, it's not at its best in terms of steering and responsiveness, they have the better PS4S series."
In dry braking, first place was the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, which testers believe has an impressive lead in dry braking; michelin PS5 is third with a time of 33.2 meters.

Wetland achievements
The wetland test is divided into three parts, the wetland lap speed, the wetland braking and the wetland limit skid test. Among them, the first place in wetland lap speed is Goodyear, the first place in wetland braking is Hankook Wantushi, and the first place in wetland extreme skidding is Michelin.

Testers said that although Michelin and Goodyear have very close results, their driving experience is very different.
As with dry driving, Goodyear is noticeably more sporty, with faster steering, better feedback, and a clearer front end, but Goodyear's straight-line paddling performance is poor, which can be seen in the wet skid test results.
Michelin is an easier tire to drive and one of the easiest to drive quickly, with a strong wet grip.
"When all the test scores are combined and averaged, the results of Goodyear and Michelin may be close, but the two tires have completely different personalities."
Other tests
The tester also tested the noise, rolling resistance and subjective comfort of nine models.
Goodyear's noise is the lowest, and Rotalla and Giti are also excellent. Bridgestone was the noisiest in the group, testers said it was hard to believe, but they tested noise at two speeds (50 and 80 km/h), with Bridgestone being the noisiest twice.
External noise test (units/dB)
Subjective comfort tests are on some rough roads and speed bumps, and as usual, the most sporty tires tend to have poor comfort.
In terms of bad roads such as potholes, the best performer is Bridgestone, and michelin PS5 is also good. Goodyear, Hankook and Giti are slightly lower, while Yokohama is the most obvious brand with low comfort.
Subjective comfort score
Bridgestone leads the way in rolling resistance, with Yokohama still being the worst, and it's believed its latest Advan Sport V107 will improve on that.

Overall grades
In the end, the testing institute ranked the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and Michelin PS5 as a tie for first place overall, and the overall results were ranked as follows:
Testers believe that Goodyear's tire has sporty dynamic handling and excellent dry grip, the shortest dry braking, very fast wet handling laps, and the lowest test noise; but the disadvantage is low water ski resistance and average comfort.
"The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is an impressive tyre that builds on the Asymmetric 5 while improving dry braking and significantly reducing rolling resistance and noise levels. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of worse water ski resistance, but since it's one of the few tires that can combine good grip levels with low rolling resistance in wet and dry environments while still maintaining a sporty feel, the Asymmetric 6 still leads the way in ultra-high performance. ”
The advantages of the Michelin PS5 are excellent grip in wet and dry conditions, short braking distances in all conditions, the highest water ski resistance in the test, good rolling resistance, good comfort, attractive sidewall design; the disadvantages are general tire noise, general handling and understeering.
"The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is a tire that does almost everything! In all tests, it had only a slight weakness in tire noise, but it provided excellent grip during braking and handling, and had the highest water ski resistance. Unfortunately, like the Pilot Sport 4, the PS5's sport dynamics are mid-range and the degree of understeering is high compared to the best in the test. ”
