Volkswagen "T" model reborn as an electric car, is it still the most classic MPV?

Since the birth of the car, there have been many classic models in the world, but among so many classic models, MPV models are few and even almost none. Because MPV due to the nature of the feature, it must be a boxy box. So it's hard to have any classic design.

It is precisely because of this that the preciousness of the Volkswagen "T" model is highlighted. The Volkswagen T series was introduced in 1950, and Volkswagen's internal model, T1, was called Bulli in Germany and Microbus in the United States.

From the T1 to the T7, Volkswagen has also been thinking about what the future development of the T series models will look like. In the process of this thinking, Volkswagen has repeatedly predicted the development of the T series through the release of concept cars, including the Volkswagen Bulli concept car, microbus concept car and multivan concept car.

Volkswagen decided to officially release a production version of the ID.Buzz on March 9. Volkswagen, which has dragged on for more than 10 years and changed the image of the concept car several times, finally thought about it. Volkswagen plans to launch various versions of the ID.Buzz, including vans, freight and autonomous taxis.

From the first-generation T1, which was produced based on the Beetle, the symbol of the German national car in 1950, to the lineup of multi-carriages of the seventh-generation T7 transporter, the lineup of multi-carriages is being prepared for the transition to electric vehicles through Volkswagen's electrification strategy.

The ID. Buzz will be released on March 9, an electric version of the utility van with a design language similar to the first-generation T1. As with the first generation ensuring maximum indoor space with limited dimensions, ID.Buzz maximizes space in the car by utilizing the all-electric vehicle platform MEB.

The ID. Buzz concept car is 4941mm long, has a wheelbase of 3300mm, and is 1963mm high, and will be available in both a regular minivan version and a van version.

In addition to Volkswagen's Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), ID.Buzz is also applying platform technology to autonomous driving.

Since 2017, Volkswagen has been conducting various tests by installing autonomous driving systems on its ID series models.

It is reported that Volkswagen plans to complete the development of Level 5 with artificial intelligence and fully autonomous driving functions through Argo, which is invested in Ford. In addition, the self-driving taxi service scheduled to be piloted in Germany in 2025 will also be implemented through ID.Buzz.
