The genetic sequencing of the confirmed case in Anshun, Guizhou is the Aomi Kerong variant

Beijing News Express According to the micro-news of the Guizhou CDC official, on January 26, 2022, the Provincial CENTER for Disease Control and Prevention received a notice that the nucleic acid test results of a returnee from outside the province in Anshun City were initially positive, and the person was a close contact of a confirmed case in Hangzhou and needed to be reviewed against the specimen and genetically sequenced.

At 23:15 that night, after the virus sample was transferred to the Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the laboratory personnel carried out the review and sequencing work intensively, and after 11 hours of "stripping away the cocoon", the sequencing result of the confirmed case in Anshun was the New Coronavirus Omicron variant (BA.1), which was the same genotype as the relevant case announced in Hangzhou. The sequencing results were reported to the Disease Control, and after comparative analysis, the genome sequence of the case was highly homologous to the Hangzhou-related case.

Viral genome sequencing can deeply reveal the changes of pathogenic microorganisms at the genomic level, assist epidemiological investigations, and judge whether different cases are in the same chain of transmission from the molecular biological level.
