And the big girl went to see "First Love This Love Song".

It is a film about youth and escape, fleeing from Dublin to London, London represents hope and dreams, and Dublin's family and school life is a depressing and hopeless reality. Chinese title has nothing to do with the English title Sing Street, and has the autobiographical color of the director.

But the funny thing is that I actually deleted two kiss scenes that set off the emotional importance, which is what the big girl told me. Do you even have to censor the kiss scene now? Do we still need to go to the theater to see such an incomplete movie? It's better to look online at home.

When you think of Ireland, what comes to mind? It could be Celtic music, it could be the poet Yeats, it could be James Joyce, who wrote the amazing Ulysses. Now, irish director John Carney's musical films have also become a cultural export of Ireland.

A few years ago, John Carney's musical film "Meet You in New York Again" was released in the mainland and received good word of mouth and box office. On August 7, John Carney's youth music film "First Love This Love Song" was released again in the mainland, although it was a film from 4 years ago, but with rock, band, campus youth, first love and other elements, it still attracted a wave of fans.

The film is based on the director's own experience forming a band in Dublin as a teenager, with his personal autobiographical overtones. Although the story takes place in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, there are few city street scenes in the film, and the main scenes take place in the home of the 14-year-old male protagonist Connor, the church school and the seaside.

Because of the poor relationship between his parents and the increasingly difficult livelihood, Connor was forced to transfer to a church school with strict rules, and the principal not only punished the students at every turn, but Connor was also bullied by the school bully. He fell in love with 15-year-old Rafina, and in order to invite her to be a model for the MV, Connor decided to form a band with his classmates called "Sing Street" Sing Street.

Since they were rock bands, cover songs were obviously not promising, so they quickly began to create original songs, from the gothic MV "The Riddle Of The Model" to the love song "To Find You" to the school party's hilarious and rebellious "Brown Shoes", they practiced "Rock is a gorgeous adventure".

Genesis Band

As the background of Dublin in the 80s, famous British bands in the 80s also flashed in the film from time to time, such as the futuristic Duran Duran (Duran Duran), their MV is innovative, they wear makeup, tie headbands, wear wide-brimmed hats, and wear frilled pants, which is obviously the same as the Sing Street band in the film.

There's also Genesis, an avant-garde rock band that rose to prominence in the 70s, with lead singer Phil Collins at its soul. His classics include "Another Day in Heaven."

The influence of the United States on these children is also not small, they mention Michael Jackson's famous music video "Thriller" released in 1982, and the classic film "Back to the Future" in the 80s. For Connor, his dream is to "go to An American school, where there are a lot of girls who can wear hairspray all over their heads."

When Connor, with the help of his brother, drove a motorboat with his beloved girl to Wales, England, across the sea, I realized that the film was not only about first love, youth and music, but also dreams and escapes. In this lifeless family that erupts from time to time, the mother is eager to escape, the brother who dropped out of school spends all day drinking wine to pour sorrow, Rafina and her boyfriend flee to London and come back... If Dublin represents a hopeless and repressive reality, then London, across the sea, is their dream and future.

Dublin by the sea, only a few dozen miles from the British mainland Wales, can see the opposite shore when it is clear.

14-year-old Connor and 15-year-old Rafina set out for their dreams in the storm, to their new continent, their future land. The United Kingdom on the other side does not appear in the film at all, or only appears in the MV and TV.

Unfortunately, there are at least two kiss scenes in the film, which were cut when they were released in the mainland. This is what the big chick told me, obviously there are these cut clips flowing out of the Internet. In fact, it is a very ordinary kiss scene, one is that Connor takes Rafina out on a wild swim, everything is beautiful in the sun, and Connor can't help but kiss Rafina.

In the other place, when filming the MV at the seaside, Rafina, who was pursuing perfect effects, did not follow Connor's arrangement to jump down the stairs, but jumped directly into the sea, and when Connor rescued her ashore, the two also had a kiss scene.

How can a movie about first love and youth not have a kiss scene? Moreover, this is a very ordinary kiss scene, but it is ruthlessly cut by scissor hands. I feel angry that the arrangement of any scene is not superfluous for a film, not to mention that these two scenes are very important to set off the emotions of the male and female protagonists. Without these two scenes, you will feel that the emotional processing of the whole movie is flat, and you cannot feel the emotional sublimation of the male and female protagonists.

The mainland version, cut out for 4 minutes. Even the kissing scene must be cut off, which will only appear in China when there is no opening, which happens now, which is a bit bizarre and ridiculous, and can only be explained as: Can't the kissing of minors follow suit? But at a time when the audience is already pitifully small, how many people can be attracted into the theater to watch an incomplete movie?
