A 10-year-old boy in New Jersey, USA, sent an email to school teachers and administrators by email threatening to shoot at the school, and the boy was arrested by police on March 1, local time.

According to ABC News, a teacher at Caroline School in New Jersey reported at 1:20 a.m. on March 1 that police had received an email from a stranger saying they were going to her school to shoot and shoot. It is understood that the school, which belongs to the Franklin Town School District, enrolls students in grades three through six.

As police issued orders to email and IP service providers to assist in the investigation, the suspect continued to send threatening emails to school administrators, saying that another elementary school nearby would also be shot on March 2. These threats sparked local panic, and the Franklin Town School District and two other nearby school districts were closed.

Mail service providers and telephone companies assisted in the police tracing and found a home in Franklinville, where they arrested a 10-year-old boy attending the Franklin Town School District and charged the boy with a level III terrorist threat and a third-degree false alarm for causing a public false alarm, and the detained boy admitted to issuing threats.

At a press conference at noon on March 1, Police Chief Zimmer said: "None of our schools have been subjected to a real security threat. The detainees were not armed and simply made very bad decisions. Local police said that after a psychiatric assessment, the boy would be released and returned to his parents. After police announced that there were no actual threats to school safety, the three school districts resumed classes on March 2.
