Rome, December 20 (Xinhua) -- On December 20, Frenchman Alexis won the men's giant slalom event at the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Alta Badia, Italy. It was his first time winning the championship on the field in Alta Badia.

"It's really special here, this piste is very classic and I'm very happy to win here for the first time." Alexis said.

The Frenchman took the lead after his first ski ride, and his second stroke was even better, eventually beating Norwegian rising star McGrath. The Norwegian finished second with a slight margin of 0.07 seconds.

For the Swiss Murissi, the 20th was also a special day, he rose eight places with his excellent performance in the second slide, and finally finished third. In 2017, Murissi finished fourth once in Alta Badia, the first time in his career that he had reached the podium here.

On the 21st, Alta Badia will continue to compete in the men's slalom event.
