What exactly is the Golden Age in Wang Xiaobo's "Golden Age"?

author:Fur wood

It's been more than ten days since I watched "The Golden Age," and it took me about two months to watch "The Golden Age." It's not because there's too much in the book, it's that I've read less of it.

But because of the lack, I watched it for a long time before I finished it. When I first started reading it, I thought I had found a fake book (I read it on WeChat), but as for the reason, I don't think it looks like a literary work at all. Then after reading more than a dozen pages, I was stuck, and the plot was understood, but I didn't understand the meaning.

Maybe I was lucky enough to turn to a book friend's comment that sex in Wang Xiaobo's works means freedom, so that I could read the book a little bit. Then after reading the book for more than ten days, I probably understood the meaning of the book.

Wang Er can be said to be a representative of the pursuit of freedom at some point in the book, and met Chen Qingyang when pursuing freedom, but there are always people around to point out, and Chen Qingyang is not really a person who pursues freedom.

Therefore, Chen Qingyang often went to find Wang Er when he was said to be a broken shoe by people around him, but when he was really known to have a relationship with Wang Er, he did not go to wang er. She just wants to confirm the ideas of the people around her, like a person who is said to be liberal, in fact he does not have such strong ideas, but he is labeled by the people around him, so he tries not to let the "human design" collapse.

Later, Wang Er and Chen Qingyang were criticized for fighting together, and the two chose different approaches. Wang Er was like that "dead and unchanging," while Chen Qingyang was "very clever" in choosing to be soft and would ask those people instead of scolding and spitting like Wang Er.

It seems that it is just a difference in personality, but in fact it has been implied that the two people will not be together in the end. So in the end, Chen Qingyang left and went to the hospital, while Wang Er went back. Many years later, Wang Er and Chen Qingyang met again, and Chen Qingyang was free again, but Wang Er never saw her again.

Chen Qingyang had a lot of beautiful things in her thoughts, but she had never thought about freedom, what was freedom? Freedom is something that makes her want but dare not want, which is why she and Wang Er have such tangled thoughts when they are together.

For Chen Qingyang, the pursuit of freedom is largely just for the "great friendship" with Wang Er, and the pursuit of freedom is too difficult for her. And this "great friendship" is not enough to make two people with different ideas fight together for a certain career, so the time behind the two people is very different.

Later, Chen Qingyang completely cut off the pursuit of a free life. (This is the author's personal idea, do not like it)
