Zheng Yinghai said that the oil pot is also called an oil cage in the local area, which can hold both water and oil, and has been widely used in the local area before. After the 1980s, with the emergence of a large number of plastic and iron containers, oil pots have gradually been abandoned. Subsequently, some craftsmen who knew this craft also switched to other bamboo products such as sea dustpans and oil umbrellas.
Zheng Yinghai told the Kaiping News reporter that in the 1970s, because he knew this craft, he and more than 10 craftsmen in the village compiled a large number of oil pots to sell. It is popular in the local area due to its cheap and practical. "When I was young and strong, I could make an oil jug a day, and when I was ready, I sold it to a trading company (now a supply and marketing cooperative), and a pair of oil jugs could sell for 12 yuan. In this way, I could earn about 180 yuan a month, which was worth a year's income of a strong laborer at that time, so I relied on this craft to support my family that year. Zheng Yinghai recalled.
Xingyang oil paper umbrella has been passed down for nearly 300 years

"The oil-paper umbrella I knitted is also cheap and good, and the brand I play is called Xingyang paper umbrella." Zheng Yinghai proudly introduced that before and after the oil-paper umbrella, it is necessary to divide dozens of steps such as cutting the umbrella bone, winding the edge line, mounting paper, persimmon water, collecting umbrellas, painting umbrellas, installing umbrella handles, putting on tung oil, nailing cloth heads, winding handles, and wearing internal lines, and an oil-paper umbrella takes a day to do a good job.
Although the village of Xingyang Village is small, it is famous for its ancestral oil paper umbrella, and this intangible cultural heritage, the Xingyang oil paper umbrella, has been passed down in the village for 9 generations and has a history of nearly 300 years. According to reports, the initial oil paper umbrella process was introduced from Sichuan, because the handmade paper umbrella production process is complicated, the main process must be borne by the main labor force at home, the production is labor-intensive and time-consuming, and has withdrawn from the stage of daily necessities, and gradually many people in the village will no longer make paper umbrellas. Today, only 4 families in the village are still making oil-paper umbrellas, among which Zheng Yinghai is the inheritor of baoshan's famous intangible cultural heritage oil-paper umbrellas.
