Dunhuang Grottoes culture integrates architecture, sculpture and painting, which is a wonderful flower in the treasure house of world culture and art, and a bright pearl in the long river of human civilization. Mogao Grottoes, commonly known as "Thousand Buddha Caves", is the representative of Dunhuang Grottoes. In 1961, the Mogao Grottoes were announced by the State Council as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units; in 1987, they were listed as world cultural heritage.

This exhibition is divided into two parts: grotto art and "Mogao Spirit". The grotto art exhibition condenses the essence of Dunhuang culture and art for more than 1650 years into four themes: the Silk Road, Buddhist beliefs, Pure Land style and historical architecture, showing the process of fusion and condensation of foreign culture and Buddhist culture on the land of China. The "Mogao Spirit" exhibition tells the story of generations of "Mogao people" who have ignited the inheritance fire of grotto art with diligence and dedication, so that the flying gods can live endlessly and can be preserved, and praise the "Mogao spirit" of "adhering to the desert, being willing to dedicate, having the courage to take responsibility, and forging ahead".

The two cities of Dunhuang and Fuzhou are located in the important passages of the overland Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road respectively, and jointly witness the history of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries in ancient times. The fusion and convergence of diverse cultures is the common historical background of the two cities. This exhibition will enhance cultural exchanges and mutual learning between Fuzhou and Dunhuang, and present a cultural feast for the citizens of Fuzhou.
