The safe disposal of medical waste is the key line of defense for epidemic prevention and control, how is the medical waste in Anyang City disposed of? At the 12th press conference on the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic held in Anyang City on January 20, Yang Weidong, director of the Anyang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, responded to the above questions.

Yang Weidong said that since the outbreak of the epidemic, Anyang City has comprehensively standardized the procedures for the disposal of epidemic-related medical waste, and according to the nucleic acid testing instructions of the Municipal Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters, it has formulated the "Work Plan for the Collection, Transportation and Disposal of Medical Waste during the Nucleic Acid Testing Period of the Whole People of Anyang City", which standardizes the collection, transportation and disposal of medical waste in medical institutions, nucleic acid testing sampling points and centralized isolation points. Subsequently, the "Notice on Further Strengthening the Environmental Management of Epidemic-related Medical Waste in the City" was issued to further standardize the packaging, temporary storage, disinfection and transfer of epidemic-related medical waste at nucleic acid collection points, centralized isolation points and nucleic acid testing laboratories in square cabins.

At the same time, Anyang City pays attention to strengthening the environmental supervision of medical waste. During the epidemic period, 36 supervision groups were specially organized to comprehensively carry out on-site help and guidance inspection of medical waste environmental management at urban nucleic acid detection sampling points, isolation points, and community health centers, and standardized the medical waste environmental management work of nucleic acid testing sampling points, isolation points, and community health centers on the spot. In addition, various measures are taken to ensure the safe disposal of medical waste. On the basis of the original "Emergency Plan for the Disposal of Medical Waste Caused by novel Coronavirus Infection Pneumonia Epidemic", it is clear that three domestic waste incineration power plants are used as units for emergency disposal of medical waste, and the emergency disposal capacity is 185 tons/day. On January 16, in view of the fact that Anyang Huanxiang Medical Waste Comprehensive Treatment Co., Ltd. has been operating at full capacity, Chengfa Environmental Protection Energy (Anyang) Co., Ltd. was also required to immediately start the domestic waste incineration power generation production line to coordinate the disposal of conventional medical waste in the city.

During the epidemic period, the bureau also sent special personnel to Anyang Huanxiang Medical Waste Comprehensive Treatment Co., Ltd. to actively coordinate the transfer vehicle pass, the traffic control of the medical waste collection and transportation line, the medical waste transportation is not smooth, and the use of standby incineration equipment is used, ensuring the timely disposal of medical waste. As of January 19, the city has safely disposed of 348 tons of medical waste, of which 108 tons are epidemic-related medical waste. In the next step, the city will strengthen the environmental supervision of medical waste, improve emergency disposal capabilities, ensure the safety of the medical waste disposal environment, and ensure the health of the people in the city.
