The six detachments of the Henan Provincial Public Security Department's High-speed Traffic Police Corps are responsible for clearing obstacles and guaranteeing the 48-kilometer high-speed section of the Zhengzhou section of the Lianhuo Expressway and 7 high-speed toll stations. The patrol post is a shift system, with 24 hours of non-stop inspection every day, 4 hours per shift during the day and 8 hours per shift at night. Qi Gangqiang and his colleagues need to travel about 100 kilometers each time they patrol, and obstacles such as vehicle breakdowns, accidents, illegal parking and reversing, emergency lane stops, and highway debris along the way are within the scope of inspection and cleaning. If the road is smooth, it takes more than 1 hour to patrol a circle; when the traffic is large, the 4-hour patrol post is often all on the road.
The desire for "unimpeded" is not always achievable. The Lianhuo Expressway is the longest east-west traffic artery in the mainland, with a large traffic flow and many unexpected situations all year round. Throughout the morning, Qi Gangqiang was busy dealing with various police situations on the highway. At 1 p.m., he finally had time to go to the canteen and receive the meal that the canteen had left for him: a leek bun, a large bowl of mung bean porridge, and a plate of onion rings. After lunch, Qi Gangqiang came to the exit of the high-speed Liulin Station again to take over the duty post of the colleague's station, so that the colleague could grasp the bite to eat lunch. After the holiday, the flow of passengers returning to work remains high, and congestion is easy to occur at the zheng inspection point at the station entrance of the highway, so Qi Gangqiang diverts the vehicle in advance and guides the drivers and passengers to prepare relevant certificates.
Different from the general "nine to five" office workers, the working rhythm of high-speed traffic police is 3 consecutive days of work and 3 days of rest. During his 72 hours on the job, Qi Gangqiang likes to use his preparation time to think about how to popularize traffic laws, because he is also the host of a program called "Lao Qi Says Traffic" on Henan Radio and Television Station, and has 4 million fans on self-media. Using the media and online platform to popularize the law, Qi Gangqiang insisted on it for 7 years, and he felt that the effect was not bad.
For Qi Gangqiang, this is another Spring Festival that has not been able to go home for the New Year. From the police for 17 years, Xiao Qi has become Lao Qi, and in his memory, only two or three Spring Festivals were returned to Zhoukou to accompany his parents.
