The best way to recover from stress and self-control is to relax.

Relaxation, even for a few minutes, activates the parasympathetic nervous system and soothes the sympathetic nervous system, thereby increasing heart rate variability. It also adjusts the body to a state of repair and self-healing, improves immune function, and reduces stress hormone secretion.

To trigger this relaxation response, you need to lie down, cushion your knees with a pillow, and raise your legs slightly (alternatively, you can choose any position you feel comfortable in). Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and feel your belly rise and fall.

If you feel nervous somewhere in your body, you can consciously squeeze or contract the muscles and then leave it alone. For example, if you find your palms and fingers tense, clench your fists and open your palms.

If you find your forehead and chin nervous, squeeze your eyes, frown, and open your mouth to relax your entire face. Stay in this state for 5-10 minutes and try to enjoy this state of not having to think about anything but breathing.

If you're worried about falling asleep, set your alarm first.

You can think of this as a daily exercise. This exercise can be done especially when you are in a high-pressure environment or when you need willpower.

Relaxation allows your physiology to be restored while eliminating the effects of chronic stress and self-control.
