The three teachers, Zhao Peibao and Ren Aizhi, teachers of the College of Agriculture of Liaocheng University, and Zhang Jianfeng, a teacher at the College of History, Culture and Tourism, traveled to Tonga in January 2020 to carry out vegetable cultivation and Chinese language teaching.

Before the eruption of the volcano on January 14, the Mainland Embassy in Tonga issued safety tips to the three teachers in advance, reminding them to make emergency preparations in advance. After the eruption of the volcano, Liaocheng University also responded in a timely manner, attached great importance to the safety work of the three teachers, and has been maintaining docking with the Chinese Embassy in Tang and the families of the three teachers in China.
