The small home full of books allowed her to find freedom outside of the nine-to-five.
01 The beginning of a dream
This library-like little home has its own name- Guzhi Goods.
The origin of the bookstore's name is "GOODS", which is short for "goodnight & daydream book barn", and multiple good combined to form Goods Guzhi.
Owning such a private library is doris, a girl from Wuhan.
Doris describes himself as a heavy bookshop lover and a bookshop poisoner, and likes to travel after the bookstore.
The first thing I became interested in bookstores was when I went to Deba and Rainbow Bookstore in the summer of 2010.
The small crowd and warmth and uniqueness of the bookstore make her think it is interesting to visit the bookstore.
The real love for the bookstore, is Doris during the university to Taiwan as an exchange student, in the Hualien time second-hand bookstore to see a copy of "Hear the Voice of the Bookstore", the book introduced the characteristic bookstore, let her want to go to each bookstore in person.
So she saved up a lot of spare time and went around the island to almost all the large and small bookstores in Taiwan.
In this way, Doris embarked on the road of no return and began to travel after the bookstore, traveling all over Japan, the United Kingdom, and all over the country.
Doris is never soft on buying books, and the 28-inch suitcase is often filled with books when he returns from travel, all the way back to Wuhan.
In the last summer before graduating from college, 22-year-old Doris began to sketch out his future home while visiting IKEA.
She used a sticky note on her mobile phone to type out more than 3,000 words of imaginary ideas and made a wish: before the age of 35, she realized the library home of her dreams.
With the help of his parents, this wish came true at the age of 26.
02 The realization of dreams
Doris was involved in Gu Zhi's entire process from imagination to realization.
Although it took a long time, about fourteen or fifteen months, every place reflected the owner's intentions.
For each of Gu Zhi's designs, Doris takes inspiration from different places: the small shops he likes to visit, the books he likes...
The cartoon "Cherry Pills" has also become a source of inspiration for her.
The clip of Xiao Maruzi taking the desk lamp into the closet and hiding in the closet reading and sleeping made her fantasize from an early age that her future home had a bed with a cabinet, blankets, pillows and lamps, and some books.
Now the attic bed of the little pill is stacked with a whole row of "Literary and Art Style" magazines.
When she first saw a photo from Chen Qizhen's "Instant", she hoped that her home had a similar background wall that she could sit on with her back to.
Now the background wall of her bedroom basically recreates that photo.
Doris wrote down his inspiration in the book, and finally became a thick book of decoration notes, after a long period of design and decoration, finally had the current Gu Zhi.
In Guzhi, there are books hidden in every corner, even the alcove next to the toilet has a copy of Duchamp's urinal, and a copy of the Squat Pit Pictorial hangs on the towel rack.
Many people see Gu Zhi's first glance, and they all show envious eyes: many books, small balls of wardrobe beds, sun rooms with plants, kitchens with ovens...
Gu Zhi is like "someone else's house", every beautiful furniture and ornaments, you can't help but add shopping carts.
What people like more is Doris's idea and lifestyle, which does not require a lot of space, as long as it is what you like.
Doris doesn't want Gu Zhi to be a punch-in photo space, so he only updates the library on his personal social media account.
03 Librarian
But Doris is not a full-time librarian, and during the day Doris is a company office worker, working a nine-to-five job.
But when she returned home at night, she became Gu Zhi's librarian, a small home that poured her emotions and energy into, making her feel free and self-consistent.
Unlike common bookstores and libraries, if you want to read books in Guzhi, you need to fill out a "withdrawal form" first.
Answer questions about bookstores and reading: "Favorite bookstore", "A book I recently read", "The antonym of sunset"...
If you want to enter by relationship, it is impossible, Doris will be "iron-faced selfless" to send the examination paper, resolutely resist all backdoor behavior.
And after asking for a refund order, there was no news from more than one person.
In Doris's view, if you want to get it, you have to pay first, and those who are willing to spend time are sincere.
In the face of such an examination paper, some people said that "I have not written such a long questionnaire for a long time, and I feel that it hits the heart", and some people expressed their incomprehension, thinking that "the money is spent to answer the question".
Sincere answers will inspire Doris, and there will be people who will give their own suggestions and express their opinions.
In some exam papers, there will always be some answers poking at the center,
For example, when you think of reading, you think of the wilderness, think of your grandparents' desk, the desk is facing the window, and the rice field outside the window has traces of last year's rice; in the past 24 hours, the happiest thing is to buy a ticket to Wuhan.
Every visitor to Gu Zhi is a "grain seed".
Doris would take some faceless photos of each "grain seed," usually with the hand turning the book or the back of a reader.
When she had collected 100 "grain seeds," she wanted to put together 100 answers and photos into a book.
Compared with real bookstores or libraries, the variety and quantity of books here are not rich, but each one is eye-catching, and here, you can see some books that cannot even be searched online, let alone bought.
No loan, no sale, only live reading, is the rule here, after all, each book is Doris's treasured heart meat.
Doris's only criterion for choosing books is that "I like" it is good, not to cater to others, just like the "difficult" rejection form in the eyes of others, "Why can only the guest choose the bookstore, not the bookstore choose the guest?" ”
04 Where the story begins
The exquisite and warm Guzhi is a place where you can stay comfortably for a long time.
Within ten months of the library's opening, Doris had completed his goal of collecting 100 grain seeds, and in their story, the encounter with Gu Zhi ranged from a stranger at the beginning to a like-minded friend.
The "grain seed" with the most visits has come four times, and skillfully took out the book that he had not read last time from the bookcase and chose a comfortable seat to continue reading.
There are also grain seeds that come with small things, such as bread stickers and blue print stickers.
A lot of grain seeds like Doris like to visit the library, come here for books that can't be seen elsewhere, for a different atmosphere.
After they came, some of them were quietly reading books, there was no communication throughout the whole process, some of them met and hated late, and some of them were familiar with each other before...
Various stories play out in this small home, there are accidents and surprises.
When no one visits, Doris exclusively enjoys this bookstore, which is her daily home for eating and sleeping, where she can learn, read, play, and every detail is Doris's book and story.
Gu Zhi is the place where Doris fulfills her wishes, and her persistence makes her years of liking dreams come true.
Doris's life makes us see a different existence, she likes the feeling of being surrounded by books, and turns her home into a library.
Doris brings his dream to reality and shares it with people who really love it, where different people meet, who share their lives and their love of books.
