Luoyang, January 19 (China News Network) -- The Year of the Tiger is approaching, and the South China Tiger Family in Wangcheng Park, Luoyang City, Henan Province, is also getting bigger and bigger. The reporter learned from Wangcheng Park on January 19 that the two newly born South China tiger babies in the park have begun to grow, which makes the total number of South China tigers in the park reach 65, and the number of South China tigers in Luoyang ranks first in the country for 8 consecutive years.

On September 25, 2021, the female South China tiger "Heavy Snow" in Wangcheng Park successfully gave birth to a male tiger baby, and due to the lack of maternal nature of "Heavy Snow", the breeder decided to artificially raise this tiger baby.

"The male tiger baby weighs only 845 grams when it is born, and according to its physical characteristics, we make a childcare plan and feed it a small number of times a day to ensure the digestion and absorption of food by the South China tiger baby." Wang Zhenyu, a breeder at Luoyang Wangcheng Park, said that every day the diet of tiger cubs is supplemented with bone meal, vitamins, liquid calcium tablets and other nutritional elements to help the body of the South China tiger baby absorb enough nutrients and develop healthily. In addition, the daily keeper also increases the number and duration of massages for the tiger babies, promotes the intestinal peristalsis of the South China tiger cubs, and helps defecation.

After more than three months of careful feeding, the weight of this South China tiger baby has reached about 8 pounds. "Although it is a little lower than the weight of the tigers of the same age, the appetite is good, and the physiological indicators are normal." Wang Zhenyu said that this little "tiger brother" has a meek and well-behaved personality, especially relatives.

Less than two months after the "Tiger Brother", on November 12, 2021, the female South China tiger "Yang Ii" in Wangcheng Park successfully gave birth to a female tiger baby.

"This female South China tiger baby weighed 1,090 grams when she was born, and her voice was usually loud, always roaring, and very fierce." Wang Zhenyu introduced, "However, it is very worrying when it eats, the appetite is particularly good, and now it has to eat 6 meals a day, a total of two meats and four times of milk, and is a veritable 'dry rice king'." ”

At present, the "tiger sister" who has only been more than 2 months has reached 6 pounds of weight, and all physiological indicators are normal.

According to Wangcheng Park, "Tiger Brother" and "Tiger Sister" do not yet have names, and are currently being solicited from the society. During the Spring Festival, if the epidemic situation is stable, the weather is sunny, and the temperature rises, "Tiger Brother" and "Tiger Sister" are expected to meet with the audience.

The South China tiger is a subspecies of tiger endemic to China and is a national first-class protected animal. With the successive births of "Tiger Brother" and "Tiger Sister", as of now, there are 65 South China tigers in Wangcheng Park Zoo, and the number of South China tigers has ranked first in the country for 8 consecutive years.
