AFS: Last week, the world lost the most car production due to the lack of cores by 102,000 vehicles

According to foreign media reports, according to the data of AutoForecast Solutions (hereinafter referred to as AFS), a data forecasting company for the automotive industry, as of January 16, due to the shortage of chips, the cumulative production of the global automotive market this year has been reduced by about 149,200 units.

AFS has been closely following the chip supply crisis since the beginning of last year. Last week, global chip shortages began to trigger new production disruptions in auto plants in Europe, North and South America.

Last week, the global auto market reduced production by 102,000 units. Among them, the European region was the most affected by the chip shortage, cutting production by 47,200 vehicles; followed by South America, which cut production by 27,700 vehicles; and north America with a reduction in automobile production by 27,100.

AFS expects Ford to reduce vehicle production at its Plant in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and Flat Rock, Michigan, due to chip-related issues.

Over the past year, the automotive industry has been deeply affected by supply chain bottlenecks. At present, car companies are trying to develop more realistic production plans, while taking a myriad of responses to produce cars and trucks in the case of unsatisfactory chip inventory.

Despite this, AFS's latest forecast says that due to chip shortages, the cumulative production reduction in the global auto market this year will reach 832,800 units. Among them, Europe is expected to be the region with the largest reduction in automobile production, to 331,000 units.
