The 32-year-old woman claimed she was abused by her husband and others and was forced to have unnatural sex with them. The men also burned her intimate parts with cigarettes. According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), an official quoted intelligence as saying that when the woman resisted sexual assault, the other party also threatened to kill her.

PTI reported that an official revealed that the gang rape occurred between November 2019 and October 2021 at a farmhouse in Indore city.

It is reported that the murdered woman is from Chhattisgarh, and she met the man from Indore on a dating website and married him. However, the deputy police inspector said the man was already married to someone else at the time.

The murdered woman told the police that she had somehow escaped from the farmhouse and returned to her parents' home in Chhattisgarh. But one of the defendants followed her there with the intention of hurting her.
