Chinese modern art education has always been adhering to the belief of inheriting the Chinese context and recording the weather of the times, and aims to cultivate young artists in the new era who shoulder the mission, embrace the homeland and have the courage to take responsibility. Based on this fundamental concept, the National College Students Art Works Exhibition coordinates classroom teaching and discipline construction as a whole, and through multi-party collaboration between the school and society, jointly constructs and improves an important platform for comprehensive education-oriented, discovering and cultivating young artists. The recently opened "Second National College Students Fine Arts Exhibition", as a continuation and sublimation of the first exhibition in 2017, comprehensively presents the teaching achievements of higher art colleges in recent years, and shows the creative ideas, artistic personality and spiritual outlook of contemporary college students. After extensive drafting, rigorous evaluation and other links, more than 480 works were selected from more than 18,000 submissions, covering six sections of Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, comprehensive materials, watercolor pastel painting, and basic painting, vividly and vividly showing the new thinking, new model, new characteristics and new image of the current young art creation.

In this exhibition, young art creators based on the present, around the life experience, to carry out multi-perspective, multi-level, multi-faceted thinking on reality, creative styles are diverse, rich in themes. From grand narratives to microscopic records, there are not only actual records of campus life, but also docking with social phenomena, both the lyricism of daily emotions and the expression of unique life experiences, vividly conveying the living conditions and atmosphere of the times of college students.

The art creation of the college student group reflects their sensitivity to the information age and their judgment of the future world, and what is most needed for artistic creation is the gushing vitality and youthful enthusiasm. In the choice of themes, the creators slice life from different angles, investigate and depict the environment and things around them, and excavate the aesthetic factors that are full of contemporary vitality.

Young artists not only depict the university life of hard work, but also record the major events of the family and the country from a new perspective and carry forward the new style of the times. They care about the relationship between man and nature, and pay attention to current affairs and social welfare. Through the brushes, they show the moments of medical workers and volunteers who dared to be the first during the anti-epidemic period, convey the expectations and wishes of college students for the Beijing Winter Olympics with their stirring youthful enthusiasm, and record the touching shots closely related to social life such as farming, autumn harvest, fishing, grazing, duty at the border, and building homes. Among the works, there are such true records of daily campus life as Gong Zhiying's "Fancy Years and Positive Youth", Qin Yang's "Spikes", An Zhaoyu's "Footsteps of the Times", and other true records of daily campus life, as well as the discovery and display of new things such as Fan Mo's "Youth Gathering in the E Era"; there are also careful depictions of labor scenes and scenes of people living and working in peace and contentment, such as Ding Han's "The First Light of the Sunrise", Chen Hui's "Fishing Song", Wang Dutao's "High Heavens and Thick Soil and Harvest", and there are also such as Wang Zhaoyue's "Tribute to the Angel in White" and Yin Yue's "Tribute to the Angel in White" and Yin Yue's "The Scene of People Living and Working in Peace". She dedicated sweetness to the people", Han Jixiao's "Red Memory, Zhou Libo's Former Residence" and other praises to heroic models who have great love and courage to shoulder heavy burdens. Through in-depth experience in the real society, young artists in the new era rely on the refining and creative ability to transform real life into artistic images, and present the contemporary reflection of humanistic traditions with their works.

In the exhibits in this exhibition, we see the continuation of the traditional painting language and the exploration of modern technical concepts. Young artists take the ancient as a mirror, learn from the past, transform and create, and develop and innovate. They are good at using the advantages of traditional plastic art language, choosing what they need in the exchange and dialogue between Chinese and Western art, exploring and researching on the basis of the ancient rules and regulations, and through thinking and refining real life, evolving a skill paradigm that meets the characteristics of their own painting, inheriting and developing the diversified and innovative artistic path of Chinese art since the 20th century. There are works of art such as Wang Shuang's "Qingfeng Outside the Threshold", Han Boqi's "Yu", Xiao Shan's "Sunny Day", Liang Qiwei's "Yu Linglong" and other works of art that draw nutrients and introduce new ideas from traditional Chinese pen and ink, as well as Feng Yu's "The Phase of Shadows", Yang Mengxing's "Ruin Garden", Long Shijing's "Moonlit Flowers and Forests Are Like Thunderbolts" and other works that use new materials and new methods to restore the mirror construction of reality, as well as masterpieces such as Yang Jilu's "Coastline" that integrate Chinese and Western and are rich in contemporary thinking.

As a generation that has grown up in a rich and diverse cultural environment, college students in the new era shoulder the important responsibility of inheriting national culture and expressing the new voice of the times. From the works in the exhibition, it can be seen that young artists have a new attitude of basing themselves on the local and looking at the world, and they strive to imitate and create their own national image genealogy on the basis of respecting tradition and drawing on the strengths of others. They pay attention to the life of different ages and the blood inheritance of different ethnic groups to build a harmonious homeland. For example, Yang Lin's "Bowl fragrant qing" shows the flourishing scene of the Hakka people holding a celebration, and the layered "Chinese red" is particularly eye-catching; Wei Mingsi's "Open the Door to the Mountain" depicts the customs of people celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival. Young artists in the new era inject contemporary elements into national culture and supplement real life with artistic language. They discover the potential of beauty while expressing natural features, historical humanities, social reality, and the weather of the times, and act as observers of life and recorders of beauty, making new perspectives and new levels of exposition for the modern humanistic spirit.

Youth is the hope of the country and the nation, and the creation of young artists carries and reflects the new image of the times. The "Second National College Students Art Exhibition" aims to discover more art students with feelings, responsibilities and potential, and shoulder the mission and responsibility of cultivating successors in the literary and artistic undertakings in the new era. In this exhibition, the characteristics of the richness of creative themes, the diversification of artistic techniques, and the diversification of aesthetic cores shown in the works are precisely the bursting and expression of the natural era mark and spiritual temperament of young people, and at the same time vividly embody the concept of "driving teaching with creation, and improving creation with teaching".

Looking back at the vein of art history, there have been many artistic activities with young artists as important participants, and the themes of that period deserve attention have emerged in their creations. Their passion for art is like fire, and they are indispensable to society, and such cultural genes have every reason to follow the long river of art history to the artistic blood of contemporary college students. With such accumulation from generation to generation, we see not only the art itself, but also the deeper and more lofty hope for the times and the nation. Young artists are walking into daily life, into history, and into the future, building the Chinese spirit, Chinese values, and Chinese strength, and singing the song of youth that excites and forges.
