Brief introduction

Doctor of Art Theory. He has successively served as the president and editor-in-chief of the Fine Arts magazine of the China Artists Association, the director of the collection department of the Jiangsu Art Museum and the Shanghai Art Museum, and the director of the Art Museum of the Beijing Fine Art Academy.

He is currently the director of the Art Theory Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, the director of the China Artists Association, the director of the China Appraisal Association, the vice chairman of the China Urban Sculptors Association, the director of the China Oil Painting Society, the executive director of the Chinese Painting Society, the chic scholar of Hunan Normal University, the visiting professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor of Capital Normal University, Shanghai University, Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts and Macau University of Science and Technology.

His representative works include: "The Aesthetic Vision of a Nation in the 20th Century", "Trouble and Return: Plastic Art in the Age of Images", "People's Art", "Meaningful Modeling", "Frozen Epic", etc. He has won the first National Youth Book Award, the third prize of the first National Youth Outstanding Social Science Achievement Award, the first prize of the 8th China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Literary and Art Criticism Award, the first prize of the 2nd China Art Award and Theory Criticism Award, the 2019 China Good Book Award, the 2021 National Book Award Nomination Award, and the 8th Chinese Art Outstanding Publication (Book) Award. He was rated as a cultural master of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and one of the "four batches of talents", and an expert enjoying the special government allowance of the State Council.

Outline of the lecture

When Chinese painters first picked up the pen to paint oil painting, Chinese imagery oil painting also began. As long as the history of Chinese oil painting is long, so is the history of image oil painting. This lecture analyzes the characteristics of imagery creation of several generations of Chinese oil painters by taking the introduction of oil painting in China in the 20th century as the research object, and theoretically summarizes the four academic aspects of Chinese imagery oil painting.
