Earlier we talked about the models of Bellier, Latil and Sawim, which were finally integrated by Renault. The Unic truck mentioned today is our old friend, which was imported a lot in China in the 60s and 70s of the last century, and it is also one of the five elders of Iveco. Today's protagonist, the Uniq ZU100, is a classic model of the 1950s.

Founded in 1905, Uniq's background is unusual, with the investors behind founder George Richard coming from the mysterious Rothschild. Uniq's initial vision was to build unique, non-mainstream vehicles, initially producing light cars and taxis with two- and four-cylinder engines.

In 1922 the company went through a lot of things, launched the Uniq MSC three-ton truck, and began to make efforts into commercial vehicles. It was also the year that founder Georges Richard was in a car accident on his way to Rouen and died on his way to Paris for treatment. In 1966, Yunik joined Fiat and in 1975, together with Fiat, OM, Lancia and Margarus, formed Iveco, becoming one of the five elders of Iveco.

This is today's protagonist, Uniq ZU100 longhead truck, and you say that the front doesn't look like the Black Samurai from the Star Wars movies. The all-metal cab, named "Longchamp", is not simple, it was designed and manufactured by the well-known French body manufacturer Letourneur & Marchand, while Yunik used a steel-wood hybrid cab before.

The round roof resembles the top of the helmet, and the two split front windshields are the eyepieces of the helmet, with a one-arm wiper at the bottom. The long hood is convex in front, and it looks a bit like the Mark car in the United States in the seventies, and it is difficult to say whether there is a cause and effect. The side hood, which can be opened by gull wings, has a fish scale air intake and double-layer snap fastening for easy access to the engine.

The Uniq ZU100 is powered by a 9.84-liter six-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 135 horsepower, and the 8-speed half-a-pneumatic transmission was very advanced at the time. The engine was known at the time for its low sound crisp emissions, and many old drivers knew it was coming when they heard the sound.

Opening the profile doors that fuse with the front fenders reveals the interior with an integral soft bag. The interior of the cab is also simple and practical, with a large diameter three-spoke steering wheel for easy maneuvering and a protruding instrument panel in front for easy observation. Function keys are in the middle of the vehicle, and multimedia and storage compartments are in front of the co-pilot. The seat layout in the cab is 1+2, the main driver's independent sofa seat is adjustable, and the passenger seat is an integrated two-seat sofa seat. Please see that there is a small "OK window" in front of the co-driver, reducing the blind spot of the co-driver, which is a little small.

In 1956 Uniq acquired the French subsidiary of Saurer Trucks, and in the same year the "Longchamp" cab was upgraded, with the grille divided into two parts, with an integrated horizontal display at the top and six zones below. The headlights on both sides of the grille have also changed, with one-sided headlights changing from one to two.
