Wang Yaqiao, born in 1887 in Modian Township, Hefei, Anhui Province, the leader of the Hongmen Gang of the "Axe Party," organized and planned the assassination of Xu Guoliang, director of the Songhu Police Department, the warlord directly under him, Zhao Tieqiao, the general office of the Shanghai Merchants Bureau, count Li Dun, head of the League of Nations Investigation, and even plotted to murder Song Ziwen, Wang Jingwei, and Chiang Kai-shek.
Among all the assassination operations by Wang Yaqiao, the most gratifying was the assassination of Japanese Foreign Minister Shigemitsu Aoi in Shanghai.
On January 28, 1932, the Japanese army raided Shanghai with 100,000 people, saying that it would occupy Beijing and Shanghai within 24 hours. The 19th Route Army counterattacked with all its might, and millions of soldiers and civilians in Shanghai threw themselves into the torrent of the War of Resistance, with money to pay and powerful contributions.
On the same day, Wang Yaqiao gathered his troops and announced the establishment of the Songhu Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army, with himself as the commander, and the wind and fire went to the Taicang battlefield to cooperate with the 19th Route Army in a bloody battle.
The Japanese army could not fight for a long time and agreed to negotiate an armistice.
Subsequently, Japanese Foreign Minister Shigemitsu Aoi arrived in Shanghai and decided to hold the "Celebration Of victory in the Songhu War between China and Japan" in Hongkou Park on the "Tianchang Festival" (the birthday of the Emperor of Japan).

Wang Yaqiao decided to kill Shigemitsu Aoi at the "celebration meeting" and wash away the national shame.
