April 29, 1932: Shirakawa, commander-in-chief of the Japanese invasion of China, is killed!

On April 29, 1932 (the twenty-fourth day of the third lunar month), Yoshishi Shirakawa, a Japanese militarist, commander-in-chief of the Japanese army invading China, commander-in-chief of the Songhu Campaign that commanded the Japanese invasion of Shanghai, and the commander of the Shanghai Occupation Army whose hands were stained with the blood of Chinese people, was killed.

Yoshinori Shirakawa (1869-1932) was a Japanese army general of the Taisho period and a native of Ehime Prefecture, Japan. After participating in the Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War, he studied in Germany after graduating from the Army University, rose all the way along the elite route to the commander of the Kwantung Army, sent troops to invade Shandong three times, shielded Kawamoto Daisaku, and later served as a military senator, and after the 128 Incident, he was appointed by Emperor Showa as the commander of the Shanghai Dispatch Army, led the army to attack Shanghai, ordered 100 aircraft to bomb indiscriminately in Shanghai, blew up a large number of buildings, and killed tens of thousands of Chinese and foreign expatriates.

Wang Yaqiao was China's most famous assassin in the 1920s and 1930s, and he orchestrated assassinations of key government officials on several occasions. After the Songhu Armistice, Japanese Foreign Minister Shigemitsu Aoi went to Shanghai and decided to hold the "Sino-Japanese Victory Celebration Conference in the Songhu War" in Hongkou Park on the "Tianchang Festival", that is, on the birthday of the Japanese Emperor.

Invading China and celebrating victory on China's soil is a great national shame and a national shame! The patriotic soldiers and people of Shanghai were indignant, and Chen Mingshu, then vice president of the Executive Yuan and commander-in-chief of the Beijing-Shanghai garrison, secretly came to Shanghai to discuss measures with Cai Tingkai, Jiang Guangnai, and other generals of the Nineteenth Route Army, and invited Wang Yaqiao to discuss countermeasures in secret. The resolution destroyed the "celebration meeting" and washed away the shame of the country. However, it is only a dozen days before the "Tianchang Festival," the time is tight, the Japanese agents are frequently active, and the Japanese regulations are only allowed to be attended by Koreans and Taiwanese, and the mainland Chinese are not allowed to enter the country, which is full of difficulties.

Wang Yaqiao's subordinates did not have anyone who met these conditions. So he found Ahn Chang-ho, a high-ranking member of the North Korean government-in-exile in Shanghai, and contacted the warrior Yoon Bong-gi through him. After Yin Fengji angrily agreed to this task, Wang Yaqiao immediately sent two fierce grenades, and also sent 40,000 yuan of activity funds. In order to ensure the success of the assassination, the North Koreans installed two grenades in a Japanese military kettle and a Nissan bento (lunch box).

April 29 is the birthday of the Emperor of Japan. On the morning of this day (April 29, 1932), many Japanese expatriates and Koreans gathered at the venue in costumes, carrying dry food and water bottles, and Yin Bongji, dressed in a straight suit and carrying a military water bottle on his shoulder, carried a lunch box in one hand and a sun flag in the other, and entered Hongkou Park with other Japanese and overseas Chinese.

At 9 o'clock, the celebration began. In order to show their military might, the Japanese army first held a military parade and fired 21 salutes. Then, under the command of Yoshiyoshi Ueda, commander of the 9th Division, the main forces of the 9th Division, the 11th and 14th Divisions, the units directly under the army, as well as the naval and aviation units, passed through the review platform in turn to be inspected by General Yoshinori Shirakawa and Aoi Shigemitsu, the Japanese Minister to China. At 10:30 a.m., the so-called military-civilian party began. At the meeting, Yoshinori Shirakawa, Aoi Shigemitsu, And Vice Admiral Yoshizaburo Nomura, commander of the 3rd Fleet, delivered hysterical speeches one after another, shamelessly advocating the theories that "the aggressor is justified" and "aggression has merit," and vigorously shouted that "the military luck is long" and "the holy life has no boundaries," and so on. At this time, Yin Fengji looked at his pocket watch, and it was still early, so he leisurely looked around in the garden. He rubbed until about 11 o'clock before he squeezed into the front 10 meters in front of the left corner of the review table.

The speech ended at 11:40 a.m. In the rain and fog, 13,000 Japanese officers and soldiers and thousands of Japanese expatriates sang the Japanese national anthem in their voices, focusing on the two huge Japanese flags on the review platform. When the last sentence was sung, Yin Fengji picked up the kettle and suddenly extended his arm backwards, "whizzed", threw the kettle out, and accurately landed in the center of the review table. There was a loud "bang", and suddenly the review platform collapsed, blood and flesh flew everywhere, and a ghost cried wolf howl. Shirakawa was blown up like a bloody man; Shigemitsu Aoi was thrown into the air by the shock wave, like a leaf in the wind, and his right leg was bleeding after landing on the ground; other military and political leaders were also injured in many places. No one on the review table was spared.

Suddenly, the park was in chaos, and Japanese expatriates rushed to escape for their lives. Immediately after the explosion, the Japanese gendarmes rushed to the scene, and Yin Bongji was captured by the Japanese army on the spot and taken to Japan, where he was killed by the Japanese on December 19, 1932, at the age of 24.

At this time, the Japanese military and political leaders who were injured by the explosion were urgently sent to major hospitals for rescue. At that time, Shirakawa was admitted to the Nippon Military Station Hospital on Hirayo Road. It was the largest and best-equipped hospital in Shanghai, but it didn't save the devil's life. Among the most serious Japanese military and political leaders, Kaori (chairman of the administrative committee of the Japanese Brigade Shanghai Resident Militia Regiment) died the next day; Aoi Shigemitsu (minister in China) lost a leg; Kenkichi Ueda (commander of the Ninth Division) lost one foot; and Shirakawa was killed on May 26, 1932.
