In order to put all this battalion in their pockets, the commanders and fighters of the whole regiment suppressed the anger in their hearts and waited for the best fighter.
Unexpectedly, in this way, the tail of the Rok army had not yet fully entered the pocket, and the vanguard automobile department had already exceeded the scope of the team's fortification and reached the headquarters of the 118th Division.
The Rok soldiers found the target, so they advanced forward and shot at the same time.
The reconnaissance company of the 118th Division immediately occupied the position and returned fire, hitting a truck with a small cannon, blocking the road.
Chu Chuanyu seized the opportunity and ordered the whole regiment to launch a fierce attack.
The enemy was struck by this sudden blow, and the formation and firepower did not have time to unfold, but still stubbornly resisted, fiercely fighting for 1 hour, except for a few remnants of the enemy who broke away and escaped, and the besieged enemy was divided and annihilated.
The enemy's sharp soldiers who had entered the northwest of Liangshuidong were also annihilated by the reconnaissance company of the 118th Division.
In the afternoon of the same day, when a group of Rok troops came between Liangshuidong and Cangdong and prepared to take a car to the north, the regimental commander decisively ordered the troops to attack from behind the enemy's flank.
The ROK army could not resist at all, so it abandoned all its vehicles and artillery and retreated to the south of the Kowloon River, and was chased and annihilated by the volunteer army.
While the main force of the 354th Regiment surrounded and annihilated the vanguard battalion, the ROK 2nd Regiment organized 1 infantry battalion to attack the 216th Hill and the 490.5 Heights 216 and 490.5 Heights more than 10 times in a row with the support of artillery fire.
As a result, they were constantly counterattacked by the commanders and fighters of the Second Battalion, and later attacked by the main force of the 354th Regiment and the 120th Division.

Although the scale of this battle was not large, it was the first battle of the volunteer army to go abroad, and it was of irreplaceable significance in the history of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
In the Liangshuidong encounter, the 118th Division annihilated 1 infantry battalion and 1 artillery company of the ROK army, killed and wounded 484 enemy prisoners, captured 1 US adviser, and captured 163 guns, 12 artillery pieces, and 38 cars.
The encounter between the two water holes opened the prelude to the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and the 40th Army of the Volunteer Army thus became the "vanguard of the prelude to the war."

On August 28, 1951, the Central Committee (CCTV) approved the proposal of the Volunteer Army Headquarters and designated October 25 as the anniversary of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea by the Chinese Volunteers.
